{"id":128332,"date":"2020-09-29T10:22:40","date_gmt":"2020-09-29T08:22:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/local-news\/ags-airports-launches-new-sustainable-security-bags\/"},"modified":"2020-09-29T10:22:40","modified_gmt":"2020-09-29T08:22:40","slug":"ags-airports-launches-new-sustainable-security-bags","status":"publish","type":"local_new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en-gb\/local-news\/ags-airports-launches-new-sustainable-security-bags\/","title":{"rendered":"AGS Airports Launches New Sustainable Security Bags"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p><a title=\"AGS Airports\" href=\"https:\/\/www.agsairports.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">AGS Airports<\/a> has become the first airport group in the UK to trial a new Oxo-Biodegradable 100ml security bag, <strong>removing over two million single-use plastic bags<\/strong> each year across the group.<\/p>\n<p>Passengers will have access to these bags free of charge in the security areas at <a title=\"Aberdeen\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business\/projects\/aberdeen-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Aberdeen<\/a>, <a title=\"Glasgow\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business\/projects\/glasgow-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Glasgow<\/a> and <a title=\"Southampton\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business\/projects\/southampton-airport\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Southampton<\/a> airports.<\/p>\n<p>The technology involved in these items ensures they will begin to degrade over a selected period of time (<strong>17 to 24 months<\/strong> of a bag\u2019s lifespan) down to a natural bio-mass rather than the more damaging micro-plastics associated with single-use alternatives. Each bag can also be<strong> reused and recycled<\/strong> prior to the beginning of the degrading period.<\/p>\n<p>The implementation of Oxo-Biodegradable security bags is the group\u2019s latest sustainable initiative to help reduce its <strong>carbon footprint<\/strong>. AGS Airports has joined over 200 airports across Europe in the commitment to achieveing net <strong>zero neutrality<\/strong> by signing <strong>ACI Europe\u2019s NetZero 2050 pledge<\/strong>. Moreover, at a UK level, AGS is a signatory to Sustainable Aviation\u2019s decarbonisation roadmap which is the first national net zero aviation commitment anywhere across the world.<\/p>\n<p>For more
