Ferrovial Services<\/a>, through subsidiary Amey<\/a>, has been awarded a contract for waste collection<\/strong> in the districts of Elmbridge, Mole Valley, Surrey Heath and Woking, in the county of Surrey, in south-east England. The contract, worth 100 million pounds, about 119 million euro, is for ten years with the possibility of a 14-year extension.<\/p>\n

Amey will handle all waste collection in those districts, including organic waste, recyclable material, waste dropped at bring banks, bulky waste and healthcare waste. It will also take charge of street cleaning, which includes street sweeping, bin emptying, weed control, and graffiti, fly tipping and fly posting removal.<\/p>\n

This Ferrovial Services subsidiary will optimise routes<\/strong> and incorporate waste collection vehicles fitted with 360\u00ba cameras<\/strong> to enhance safety, plus a computerised system to provide residents with up-to-date information<\/strong> about the service.<\/p>\n

The four councils will save over 2 million pounds per year under this contract, whose entry into force will be staggered. It will commence first in Elmbridge, in June 2017, and Mole Valley will be the last council to join, in 2018. Other councils in Surrey may join the agreement with time. The project is funded partly by Surrey Waste Partnership<\/a> and has the support of Surrey County Council<\/a>. Surrey, in south-east England, adjoining Greater London, has a population of 1.2 million, including 350,000 in the four participating districts.<\/p>\n

Amey has extensive experience in waste management in the United Kingdom. It currently provides waste collection services in London, Trafford<\/a> and Gloucester, operates waste treatment plans in Milton Keynes<\/a> and Cambridge, and collects and processes waste on the Isle of Wight<\/a> and in Liverpool, Manchester and Wolverhampton, among other cities.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
