Ferrovial, through toll road subsidiary Cintra Infraestructuras<\/a>, Amey<\/a>, a UK subsidiary of Ferrovial Services<\/a>, in consortium with Uberior and Meridiam<\/a>, has been chosen as preferred bidder by Transport Scotland and the Scottish Government for the design, construction, financing and operation of a major infrastructure project to complete the Central Scotland motorway network. The project has been valued by Transport Scotland at around 415 million pounds (520 million euro) in terms of new construction works. Additionally the contract will secure 33 years of operations and maintenance and investment revenue to the Group.<\/p>\n

The project will complete the motorway network between Glasgow and Edinburgh by upgrading the A8 trunk road between Baillieston and Newhouse to full motorway standards. It also includes work to improve the Raith Interchange and widening key sections of the M8, M73 and M74. Work is expected to begin the next few months and be completed by spring 2017.<\/p>\n

The project includes construction work on 28,6 kilometres of motorway: 12,4 kilometres of new build and 16.2 kilometres to be upgraded. Ferrovial Agroman and Lagan Construction will deliver the construction elements of the project, Cintra and Amey will then manage and maintain the road network and Meridiam and Uberior will provide the essential investment required.<\/p>\n

The concession will run for 33 years from the date the contract is signed. The project will be remunerated on the basis of availability payments. The concessionaire will receive contractual payments on the basis of service levels and the infrastructure’s availability.<\/p>\n

The partnership brings together global infrastructure expertise and construction excellence with a complete operational understanding of the local traffic, liaison and community nuances of the central Scotland motorway network. The consortium has also pledged to support hundreds of local jobs, as well as many more in the supply chain.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
