Actualmente es presidente adjunto (deputy chairman) de Barclays. Anteriormente, ocup\u00f3 la presidencia de Boots, una de las principales marcas de distribuci\u00f3n de Gran Breta\u00f1a, que se fusion\u00f3 con Alliance para crear el mayor grupo farmac\u00e9utico de Europa. Adem\u00e1s, es consejero de BAE Systems, Sappi, y Pendragon.<\/p>\n<p>Por su parte, Lord John Stevens, de 64 a\u00f1os, fue Comisario de la Polic\u00eda Metropolitana de Londres entre 2000 y 2005. Durante su prestigiosa carrera policial ha trabajado en el aeropuerto de Heathrow. Actualmente, es asesor del Primer Ministro Gordon Brown en temas de seguridad internacional. Adem\u00e1s, preside Quest y las comisiones Skills for Security Task Force y Task Force for a Border Police Force. Es un cualificado piloto y dirige la Airline Owners and Pilots Association.<\/p>\n<p>Sir Nigel Rudd sucede en el cargo al Presidente del Grupo Ferrovial, Rafael del Pino, quien ha ocupado de manera interina la presidencia de BAA desde el pasado 20 de diciembre de 2006, cuando Marcus Agius se incorpor\u00f3 a Barclays. Sir Nigel Rudd y Lord John Stevens sustituyen en el Consejo a Rafael del Pino y al Consejero Delegado de Ferrovial, Joaqu\u00edn Ayuso, quienes han ocupado cargos en el Consejo provisionalmente durante el primer a\u00f1o, tras la compra del gestor aeroportuario brit\u00e1nico por un consorcio liderado por Ferrovial.<\/p>\n<p>Sir Nigel Rudd afirma:<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;\u00c9ste es el cargo con mayores desaf\u00edos de cuantos he asumido a lo largo de mi carrera. BAA tiene que hacer frente a importantes retos, pero estoy seguro de que cuento con todo el apoyo de unos accionistas a largo plazo, y de un consejero delegado de primera clase como Stephen Nelson&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Estoy encantado de que John Stevens se una al Consejo, que seguir\u00e1 reforz\u00e1ndose en los pr\u00f3ximos meses&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Necesitamos transformar los mayores aeropuertos del Reino Unido en los pr\u00f3ximos a\u00f1os.
