La v\u00eda transfronteriza, construida por el consorcio formado por Ferrovial-Agroman y la firma irlandesa SIAC Construction, reduce a la mitad el tiempo empleado en recorrer el trayecto Dubl\u00edn-Belfast.<\/p>\n<p>La autopista tiene una gran relevancia simb\u00f3lica y pol\u00edtica, ya que resulta de los llamados Acuerdos de Viernes Santo (1998), que han sentado las bases para la paz en Irlanda del Norte. El proyecto es un ejemplo del clima de cooperaci\u00f3n que existe entre los gobiernos irland\u00e9s y brit\u00e1nico. De hecho, para poder desarrollar el proyecto, las direcciones generales de Carreteras de ambos pa\u00edses, la NRA (National Road Authority) en Irlanda y la RS (Road Services) en Irlanda del Norte han creado una asociaci\u00f3n para su financiaci\u00f3n y construcci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>La autopista inaugurada hoy transcurre por un trazado de 15 kil\u00f3metros, de los que alrededor de cinco est\u00e1n en suelo brit\u00e1nico y otros diez, en territorio irland\u00e9s. Adem\u00e1s, se han construido seis kil\u00f3metros de carreteras secundarias, 14 estructuras y tres enlaces.<\/p>\n<p>El valor del contrato asciende a casi 100 millones de euros, y se ha ejecutado, en euros y libras, bajo la modalidad de Target Cost. La apertura de la v\u00eda se ha llevado a cabo con un adelanto de cinco meses respecto de la previsi\u00f3n inicial.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Consolidaci\u00f3n en el mercado de infraestructuras irland\u00e9s<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>La A1\/N1 Newry-Dundalk es la segunda autopista construida por Ferrovial en Irlanda, tras la apertura al tr\u00e1fico en diciembre de 2005 del la Eurolink N4-N6 Kinnegaad-Kilcock. Ferrovial, que entr\u00f3 en el mercado irland\u00e9s hace cuatro a\u00f1os, construye adem\u00e1s la M3 Colonee-Kells para un consorcio liderado por Cintra, de 47 kil\u00f3metros y 500 millones de euros. Tambi\u00e9n realiza la ampliaci\u00f3n de la M-50 (circunvalaci\u00f3n de Dubl\u00edn) para el South Dublin County, por 150 millones de euros. Adicionalmente, Ferrovial ha resultado pre-adjudicataria para el contrato DBFO (Design, Build, Finance and Operate) en Irlanda del Norte, compuesto por tres tramos de autopistas, para la prolongaci\u00f3n de la N1, inaugurada hoy. <a title=\"Amey\" href=\"http:\/\/www.amey.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow\">Amey<\/a>, la filial brit\u00e1nica de servicios de Ferrovial Servicios, lidera el consorcio que gestionar\u00e1 la infraestructura.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
