Ferrovial, a global infrastructure developer and operator, has initiated construction on the North Tarrant Express in Texas to increase the capacity of the managed toll lanes and general highway lanes. The project is being led by subsidiary Cintra, through the NTE Mobility Partners consortium, and will improve the reliability of travel options for drivers, reduce traffic congestion, and support the region’s economic development.<\/p>\n

Representing of approximately $400M, the North Tarrant Express Capacity Improvement Project (NTECIP) will bring additional capacity to a major East \u2013 West corridor connecting Dallas and Fort Worth and providing connectivity to DFW International Airport at no cost to Texas taxpayers. The project spans 13 miles through six cities and includes adding a non-tolled general-purpose lane in each direction along the North Loop of I-820 and a tolled managed lane in each direction along Airport Freeway (SH 183), between SH121 and Industrial Blvd.<\/p>\n

“Due to the success of the North Tarrant Express project and increased demand of traffic, the capacity improvements are being implemented several years ahead of the original expectations,” said Alberto Gonzalez, CEO of Cintra US. “Ferrovial is proud to be a part of the success of the managed lanes network in DFW, helping relieve traffic congestion in the region by providing choices for travelers. We are committed to continue working with TxDOT to improve mobility in the DFW Metroplex.”<\/p>\n

Ferrovial subsidiaries\u00a0Ferrovial Construction\u00a0and\u00a0Webber\u00a0serve as the design-build contractor on the project, with an anticipated completion in early\u00a02027.<\/p>\n
