When panelists discussed the evolution of transportation systems in the region, the general consensus was that in the future transportation will be viewed more as a utility much like our electricity and water. In theory, these different methods of transportation such as public transit, Managed Lanes, ride-share,\u00a0<em>Hyperloop<\/em>, etc. should all work together seamlessly to improve the quality of life in the region and in the nation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x30 mgbot30 lh50 md_x20 md_lh40 xs_lh30 animated_item onScreen animated fadeInUp\">Other topics discussed were communication and technology advancements in which all the different transportation options will connect seamlessly; the safety of autonomous vehicles; the status of the\u00a0<em>Hyperloop;<\/em>\u00a0rideshare and how Managed Lanes have aided in traffic and congestion relief.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"image-section \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n        <figure class=\"image-section__figure\">\n            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.newsroom.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/12\/15133831\/forth_worth_03-1.jpg\" title=\"forth_worth_03\" alt=\"cintra texas\" class=\"image-section__image\">\n                    <\/figure>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p><strong>Alberto Gonzalez<\/strong>\u00a0spoke about the importance of the\u00a0<strong>TEXpress Lanes<\/strong> and he addressed that these projects have helped provide a solution to the traffic congestion that is ever growing in North Texas and emphasized that,<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"block-quote \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10 block-quote__body\">\n            <blockquote class=\"block-quote__text\" aria-label=\"\">\n                \u201cIt\u2019s a choice. We\u2019re providing an option to users. The advancements will also attract bigger and more advanced companies ultimately boosting our economic development throughout.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x30 mgbot30 lh50 md_x20 md_lh40 xs_lh30 animated_item onScreen animated fadeInUp\">The Director of Transportation for the North Central Texas Council of Governments talked about the fatality rate in transportation, about 40,000 a year and how,<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"block-quote \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10 block-quote__body\">\n            <blockquote class=\"block-quote__text\" aria-label=\"\">\n                \u201cWe take our cellphones and do really stupid things while we\u2019re going 70 miles an hour.\u201d            <\/blockquote>\n\n            <footer class=\"block-quote__footer\">\n                                    <p class=\"block-quote__author\" aria-label=\"\">\n                        <span class=\"block-quote__author-name\">Michael Morris<\/span>\n                    <\/p>\n                                    <p class=\"block-quote__author-role\" aria-label=\"\">\n                        Director of Transportation for the North Central Texas Council of Governments (NCTCOG).                    <\/p>\n                            <\/footer>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>He thinks that autonomous vehicles will help save lives and improve overall safety on our roads. Duong chimed in and said he believes that autonomous vehicles are expected to save around 20,000 lives a year.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x30 mgbot30 lh50 md_x20 md_lh40 xs_lh30 animated_item animated fadeInUp onScreen\">During his speech,\u00a0<strong>Steven Duong<\/strong>, discussed the advanced high-speed transportation system known as the Hyper-Loop. He explained how it worked and described it as \u201ca magnet that goes into a near-vacuum tube and then you put yourself in that pod and sling yourself off to your next destination at about 650 miles per hour.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"x30 mgbot30 lh50 md_x20 md_lh40 xs_lh30 animated_item onScreen animated fadeInUp\">Finally,\u00a0<strong>Laney Schorp<\/strong> explained how shared rides will help,<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"block-quote \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10 block-quote__body\">\n            <blockquote class=\"block-quote__text\" aria-label=\"\">\n                \u201cFill the first and last mile gaps\u201d in transportation. In the midst of all the advancements with electric vehicles and autonomous vehicles, he hopes to \u201cpower the world\u2019s most efficient, convenient, affordable shared rides.\u201d
