Ferrovial, through Webber, a subsidiary of Ferrovial Agroman, is to widen two highways in Texas, SH 146 and IH-10, in a project worth $309 million (equivalent to \u20ac262 million).<\/p>\n

SH 146 will be widened to six lanes along a 4.36-mile stretch (about 7 kilometers) between Red Bluff Road and SH 96, south-east of Houston. The contract, worth $201 million (\u20ac170 million), also includes building a 3.8-kilometer bridge over Galveston Bay. This project, which will commence in January 2019 and must be completed within five years, is of vital importance to Texan authorities and citizens, as SH 146 is an official hurricane evacuation corridor.<\/p>\n

As for the IH-10, the Ferrovial Agroman subsidiary will widen and upgrade the main lanes and add two lanes to the four currently available on the stretch between IH-410 and Loop 1604, south-east of San Antonio. It will also build four new bridges and widen an existing bridge. Work is scheduled to commence in October 2019 and must be completed in 26 months.<\/p>\n

Ferrovial Agroman in the US<\/strong><\/h2>\n

These two projects firmly establish Webber as one of the leading road builders in Texas. Last year, it was awarded contracts including the widening of US 281 and I-45, representing an investment of over \u20ac292 million. Ferrovial Agroman was also chosen to build an 85-kilometer section of Houston’s Grand Parkway, in the north-east of the Greater Houston area.<\/p>\n

Ferrovial Agroman has a solid position in the North American market due to its participation in large construction projects: in addition to the aforementioned roads in Houston, these include a section of California’s\u00a0 high speed railway; upgrading the Jeppesen terminal at Denver Airport, in partnership with the Airports division, and upgrading the I-285\/SR400 interchange in Atlanta. It is also providing design and construction work on several of Cintra’s managed lane concessions, such as I-66 in Virginia, the largest project of this type in the US; the NTE expansion in Texas, where the NTE and LBJ are already operating very successfully; and I-77 in North Carolina, where development is advancing at a good pace.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
