{"id":108484,"date":"2022-09-20T09:12:38","date_gmt":"2022-09-20T07:12:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=local_new&#038;p=108484"},"modified":"2022-12-20T18:01:13","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T17:01:13","slug":"sydneys-northern-beaches-hospital-connection-achieves-excellent-rating-for-design-and-construction","status":"publish","type":"local_new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/local-news\/sydneys-northern-beaches-hospital-connection-achieves-excellent-rating-for-design-and-construction\/","title":{"rendered":"Sydney&#8217;s Northern Beaches Hospital connection achieves &#8216;Excellent&#8217; rating for design and construction"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>The Northern Beaches Hospital Connectivity and Network Enhancement project was awarded an\u00a0<strong>&#8216;Excellent&#8217;<\/strong> rating by the Infrastructure Sustainability Council for both the Design phase and Construction phase. <strong>Ferrovial Construction Australia<\/strong> was the contractor for the project and AECOM were design partner with Transport for NSW.<\/p>\n<p>This recognition was received by\u00a0<strong>Mark Sabolch<\/strong>\u00a0(Environmental Manager),\u00a0<strong>Hector Martin<\/strong>\u00a0(FCAU Project Director),\u00a0<strong>Enrique Blanco<\/strong>\u00a0(FCAU Managing Director),\u00a0<strong>Michael Branscombe<\/strong>\u00a0(FCAU Head of Commercial) and other personalities from TfNSW (Transport for New South Wales), ISC and AECOM.<\/p>\n<p>The project is already providing the public with a better travel experience by increasing the capacity of the road network and improving access for vehicles, cyclists and pedestrians.<\/p>\n<p>The project, located in\u00a0<strong>Sydney&#8217;s Frenchs Forest<\/strong>, achieved the following key sustainability outcomes:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong class=\"ms-rteThemeForeColor-5-0\">Biodiversity<\/strong>\u00a0managed on site through an extensive monitoring program, native bush protection and a nest box implementation program over multiple years.<\/li>\n<li>Enhanced biodiversity habitat connectivity, with both aerial and culvert crossing structures within the fauna crossing program.<\/li>\n<li>Two local schools were presented with propagated heritage pear trees from cuttings of the removed trees required for the\u00a0<strong>Warringah Road<\/strong>\u00a0widening. The team presented the trees with educational resources related to the trees and a plague to mark the significance of the trees to the local area.<\/li>\n<li>Careful consideration and decision-making during design and construction phases, with focusing on\u00a0<strong>social, environmental and financial sensitivities<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Climate change risk<\/strong>\u00a0at the centre of considerations within the project design.<\/li>\n<li>Sustainable contamination remediation solutions implemented on site, to provide for the lifetime of the infrastructure asset. These solutions held their merits through stringent independent audits.<\/li>\n<li>The project exceeded the targeted spend for supporting Indigenous businesses.<\/li>\n<li>Subcontractor\u00a0<strong>Ward Civil<\/strong> was successful during the selection process based on their &#8216;non-cost&#8217; inclusions and demonstrating their experience health, safety and environment.<\/li>\n<li>Community Relations activities was one of the pivotal aspects of the project, with regular independent auditing and reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Urban and landscape designs were developed by experienced subject matter experts, with built in review and feedback mechanisms, during development and implementation stages.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n        <\/div>\n
