{"id":91989,"date":"2014-06-14T11:28:21","date_gmt":"2014-06-14T09:28:21","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=local_new&#038;p=90189"},"modified":"2022-12-20T18:24:49","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T17:24:49","slug":"bfk-and-crossrail-celebrate-the-word-festival-of-islington-big-finale","status":"publish","type":"local_new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/local-news\/bfk-and-crossrail-celebrate-the-word-festival-of-islington-big-finale\/","title":{"rendered":"BFK and Crossrail celebrate the Word Festival of Islington big finale!"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>Throughout the festival, events and activities were springing up all over the borough to explore and delight in the transformative power of words.<\/p>\n<p>There was something for everyone, from creative writing workshops and outdoor poetry, to a &#8216;Literary Nonsense&#8217; tea dance and puppet making.<\/p>\n<p>As part of the Crossrail Community Investment programme, the Bam Ferrovial Kier (BFK) JV sponsored the Festival for the second year running supporting three individual events.<\/p>\n<p>This included the \u201cSpring Ball\u201d, a poetry and dance session for the older generations, \u201cSigns\u201d, an invitation to think more about sign language as a rich mode of communication and \u201cSpeak Out Speak Up\u201d, an event to celebrate International Day Against Homophobia and Trasphobia.<\/p>\n<p>The Word Festival Finale also took place at the Word Centre located closely to Farringdon station and showcased an extraordinary exhibition to mark \u201cInspired!\u201d, an award winning Islington documentary-project which shared the unheard stories of young parents aged 14-19.<\/p>\n<p>The atmosphere at the event was powerful, as most of the \u201cInspired!\u201d protagonists were present, 10 years after the project started.<\/p>\n<p>Luis Amorim Ferrovial Agroman Director of Rail and BFK Managing Director said:<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"block-quote \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10 block-quote__body\">\n            <blockquote class=\"block-quote__text\" aria-label=\"\">\n                \u201cFerrovial Agroman UK through its joint ventures, is very proud to play an active part in the London communities where we work. The Crossrail route will pass through 40 stations and run more than 118 km (73 miles) from Reading and Heathrow in the west, through new twin-bore 21 km (13 miles) tunnels to Shenfield and Abbey Wood in the east. When Crossrail opens it will increase London&#8217;s rail-based transport network capacity by 10%, supporting regeneration and cutting journey times across the city. Crossrail services are due to commence through central London in 2018. Crossrail is being delivered by Crossrail Limited (CRL). CRL is a wholly owned subsidiary of Transport for London.
