Patents are also pending in other geographies such as Europe, Australia, Canada and Brazil.<\/p>\n<h2>About this technology<\/h2>\n<p>Piles are usually classified on the basis of their behaviour, construction procedure, materials used and cross-sectional shape. According to the construction methodology, piles can be classified as in situ piles and driven piles.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business\/construction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Ferrovial Construction<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.rodiokronsa.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Grupo Rodio-Kronsa<\/a> have developed a new type of pile; the <strong>shaft grouted driven concrete pile<\/strong> (SGDCP).<\/p>\n<p>This driven concrete pile has a square cross section with a hollow tube along its longitudinal axis, which is connected to a network of secondary lateral tubes. Each lateral tube, located in perpendicular direction to the pile axis, directly connects the main axial hollow tube with the pile surface, and is fitted with one-way valve. Following the driving process, the pile surround is pressure grouted to increase its shaft capacity, <strong>achieving a greater skin friction<\/strong> than in a conventional driven concrete pile.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-101392 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/02\/pilote1-460x480.png\" alt=\"technology shaft grouted driven concrete pile construction ferrovial\" width=\"410\" height=\"427\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-101371 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/02\/imagen2-480x386.png\" alt=\"New Concrete Pile Technology Innovation Construction Ferrovial\" width=\"415\" height=\"334\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-101367 aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/4\/2021\/02\/imagen1-480x480.png\" alt=\"technology shaft grouted driven concrete pile ferrovial construction\" width=\"409\" height=\"409\" srcset=\"https:\/\/static.newsroom.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/15143110\/imagen1-480x480.png 480w, https:\/\/static.newsroom.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/02\/15143110\/imagen1-150x150.png 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 409px) 100vw, 409px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>As a consequence, <strong>several advantages<\/strong> have been identified: the total pile length in a deep foundation can be reduced, cutting down on construction period and reducing foundation cost.<\/p>\n<p>With the aim of assessing the increase in pile shaft capacity as a result of the pressure grouting, dynamic load tests are conducted before and after the injection process.
