{"id":103636,"date":"2021-10-01T11:38:38","date_gmt":"2021-10-01T09:38:38","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=new&#038;p=103636"},"modified":"2022-12-21T08:41:24","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T07:41:24","slug":"countdown-to-the-opening-of-100-of-the-d4r7-motorway-with-the-inauguration-of-the-danube-bridge-and-the-kayak-canal","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/countdown-to-the-opening-of-100-of-the-d4r7-motorway-with-the-inauguration-of-the-danube-bridge-and-the-kayak-canal\/","title":{"rendered":"Countdown to the Opening of 100% of the D4R7 Motorway with the Inauguration of the Danube Bridge and the Kayak Canal"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p><em>The new section of the D4R7 Motorway that Cintra and Ferrovial Construction inaugurated on Sunday, September 26, has a total of 4.3 km that are already operational in Bratislava (Slovakia).<\/em><\/p>\n<p>This is\u00a0the first of several openings along a 12.6 km route that will bring three of the project\u2019s sections into operation: the D4-1, the D4-2, and the R7-1.\u00a0<b><strong>This way, the entire highway will be open to traffic in the coming days.<\/strong><\/b><\/p>\n<p>The inauguration includes the bridge over the\u00a0Kayak canal\u00a0and the Danube River. This unique structure measures 3 km long and\u00a0has a single 35m-wide deck that has two lanes in each direction, as well as a bike lane and a pedestrian walkway. After these two openings, only the sections under the junction with the D1 Motorway will remain; they\u2019re expected to go into operation during the month of October.<\/p>\n<p><b><strong>In construction on this section, complex construction methods were used,<\/strong><\/b><b><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><\/b>such as two slip forming pieces with a 2,600-ton capacity and 140 m long for the steel jacketing, three mobile formworks\u00a0measuring 20 m long for the wings, and four successive cantilever systems in\u00a0the main spans.<\/p>\n<h2>Last stage of the project&#8217;s execution<\/h2>\n<p>\u201cIn expressing my appreciation, I want to be sure to mention everyone whose efforts have made this opening possible, from our colleagues in Development who started working on this bid six years ago, to everyone who has worked from different locations to help in implementation in this country and give us support in the most difficult times. Thanks to everyone at Ferrovial Construction who, through their work, made it possible to carry out a project that highlights all of the technical capabilities at our disposal,\u201d Jaime Pla\u00f3n Lamela Pascua, CEO of the D4R7 Motorway, remarked.<\/p>\n<p>Today\u2019s act was of particular significance because it\u00a0<b><strong>is the last stage in the project\u2019s execution; the remaining sections will be open shortly, and with them, 100% of the highway<\/strong><\/b>\u00a0will be open\u00a0to traffic. This iconic project includes the monumental bridge over the great Danube River.\u201d I want to thank everyone who,\u00a0over the course of\u00a0more than five years,\u00a0has done their part to reach this achievement by working on the project, both in Slovakia and in\u00a0Spain.\u00a0Without their\u00a0participation, finishing this project wouldn\u2019t have been possible,\u201d\u00a0said\u00a0Jorge Sanz Bravo, Country\u00a0Manager at Ferrovial Construction.<\/p>\n<p>Representatives of the Ministry of Transportation, the Spanish ambassador to Slovakia, heads of Ferrovial Construction and Cintra, and the banking entities that financed the project were in attendance at the inaugural ceremony.\u00a0After cutting the ribbon across the Danube Bridge, the
