{"id":106487,"date":"2022-05-03T12:49:46","date_gmt":"2022-05-03T10:49:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=new&#038;p=106487"},"modified":"2022-12-20T18:08:32","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T17:08:32","slug":"ferrovial-launches-the-12th-round-of-its-social-infrastructure","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/ferrovial-launches-the-12th-round-of-its-social-infrastructure\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrovial launches the 12th round of its Social Infrastructure initiative to fund water and sanitation infrastructure projects"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>Not-for-profit institutions (foundations, NGOs, etc.) that are legally constituted and registered in Spain and declared of public utility, whose declared object is <strong>caring for and supporting people at risk of social vulnerability<\/strong>, and that carry out international cooperation projects in the field of <strong>water and sanitation<\/strong>, are invited to submit applications.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrovial contributes more than funds to the <strong>Social Infrastructure program<\/strong>; it also contributes<strong> knowledge and experience<\/strong> by involving its own employees, who travel to the communities where each project is being implemented. The <strong>125 volunteers<\/strong> who have participated in the Social Infrastructure program to date contributed their expertise to review the designs of the distribution networks in the various projects, as well as dimensioning the water tanks, identifying the best approaches for water treatment and assessing the environmental impacts, among other tasks. The company has allocated close to <strong>\u20ac7 million so far to 34 projects under this corporate responsibility program.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The <strong>deadline<\/strong> for applications for the Social Infrastructure Program 2022 is <strong>June 3,<\/strong> at 12.00, Spanish time.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Commitment to local communities<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>In previous rounds of this program, Ferrovial worked with <strong>NGOs<\/strong> on projects such as improving water access and quality for the Santa Rosa, Puyana and Sardinas communities in the municipality of Lebrija, Colombia. That brought <strong>to six the number of projects implemented by Ferrovial<\/strong> along the Ruta del Cacao toll road, contributing to the development of eastern Colombia and emphasizing the company&#8217;s commitment to this community. Overall, Ferrovial has improved living standards for <strong>more than 5,700 people<\/strong> in the area.<\/p>\n<p>The company undertook its <strong>first project in South Sudan<\/strong> in partnership with the <strong>Red Cross<\/strong>, to <strong>improve access to water<\/strong> for the Um Sangour refugee camp and local communities, benefiting close to <strong>41,000 people<\/strong>. The initiative followed on from those that the company has undertaken in other African countries, such as the Maji ni Uhai (Water is Life) project in <strong>Tanzania<\/strong>, which was granted the European Commission&#8217;s International Cooperation Award for Sustainable Development.<\/p>\n<p>The company has also worked with <strong>World Vision<\/strong> to improve access to water in the Pratapgarh district in Rajasthan, <strong>India<\/strong>, by installing kiosks for water storage and treatment. Ferrovial is also involved in <strong>reforestation and protecting<\/strong> surface water sources by installing dams and ponds, improving living standards for more than <strong>5,300 people.<\/strong><\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
