The Elizabeth Line is set to transform life and travel in London and the Southeast by shortening travel times in the city whilst transforming accessibility.\u00a0Not only the first major station to be completed<\/strong>\u00a0and handed to the client, but this key intersecting hub will also connect to Heathrow, Gatwick and Luton Airports, the City and outer London –\u00a0making it one of the busiest stations on the railway network<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0in the UK.<\/p>\n

Some of Ferrovial’s flagship UK projects; the Crossrail Western Running Tunnels<\/a>, early access shafts and SCL works and Farringdon Station<\/a> – the latter recognized as the jewel in the crown of Europe\u2019s largest construction project for Crossrail, will be used by London’s commuters and travelers for the first time on Tuesday May 24th 2022.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

About the Farringdon Project<\/h2>\n

A project hailed a huge success from start to finish, we were awarded three Crossrail contracts in 2011. The scope of works we delivered include:<\/p>\n

    \n
  • C300 Western Running Tunnels<\/strong>\u00a0comprised of\u00a06.4km of twin-bore tunnels between Royal\u00a0Oak and Farringdon stations. Constructed using\u00a0two 7.1m diameter Earth Pressure Balance\u00a0(EPB) Tunnel Boring Machines (TBMs), it is\u00a0lined with precast fibre-reinforced concrete\u00a0segments, manufactured in a purpose-built\u00a0facility.<\/li>\n
  • C410\u00a0<\/strong>involved\u00a0Early Access Shafts<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0Bond Street<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0Tottenham Court\u00a0Road<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0Sprayed Concrete Lining (SCL) stations\u00a0caverns.\u00a0 We identified an opportunity to\u00a0merge\u00a0C300\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>and\u00a0C410\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>contracts,\u00a0reducing\u00a0the Target Cost by \u00a380m<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0and saving 12\u00a0months on the programme.<\/li>\n
  • \n
    C435 Farringdon Station<\/strong>\u00a0works\u00a0include eastern and western ticket halls\u00a0and tunnel platforms. The station building, accesses, platforms,\u00a0cross passages, reception chambers, lifts\u00a0and escalator barrels using sprayed and\u00a0in-situ concrete lining.<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
