{"id":106778,"date":"2022-06-02T16:11:05","date_gmt":"2022-06-02T14:11:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=new&#038;p=106778"},"modified":"2022-12-20T18:06:19","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T17:06:19","slug":"ajuda-national-palace-in-lisbon-inaugurated","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/ajuda-national-palace-in-lisbon-inaugurated\/","title":{"rendered":"Ajuda National Palace in Lisbon inaugurated"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>The works, carried out by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business\/construction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Ferrovial Construction<\/a>, took forty months to complete and were divided into two phases: on one hand, the building and closing of the facade and, on the other hand, the construction of a high-security chamber to house the crown jewels.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"ms-rteThemeForeColor-5-0\">The first phase<\/strong>\u00a0of the project consisted of closing the west facade of the Ajuda National Palace, which had been unfinished since the Palace was built in 1796. The work included the construction of a\u00a0<strong class=\"ms-rteThemeForeColor-5-0\">new four-story building\u00a0<\/strong>topped on the sides with two towers. This intervention included structure, architecture, and installations. The most outstanding feature of this part of the project is that the new facade contrasts with the old palace as it is constructed with prefabricated modules of white concrete reinforced with fiberglass (GRC), while the previous facade is neoclassical in style.<\/p>\n<p><strong class=\"ms-rteThemeForeColor-5-0\">The second phase<\/strong>\u00a0of the project includes the construction, inside the previous building, of a reinforced concrete structure called COFRE, which, as<span class=\"ms-rteThemeForeColor-5-0\"><strong>\u00a0a high security chamber,\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>will house a total of 1,000 pieces of Portuguese crown jewelry.<\/p>\n<p>Among other Portuguese authorities, the inauguration ceremony was attended by the President of the Portuguese Republic,\u00a0<strong>Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa,\u00a0<\/strong>Prime Minister of Portugal,<strong>\u00a0Ant\u00f3nio Costa,<\/strong>\u00a0Minister of Finance, the former Mayor of Lisbon,\u00a0<strong>Fernando Medina,<\/strong>\u00a0the Minister of Culture,<strong>\u00a0Pedro Ad\u00e3o e Silva,<\/strong>\u00a0the President of the Lisbon Tourism Association and Mayor of Lisbon,\u00a0<strong>Carlos Moedas,\u00a0<\/strong>President of ERT-RL of the Lisbon Area Tourism Association, and the President of ERT-RL of the Lisbon Area Tourism Association,\u00a0<strong>Vitor Costa.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The representatives of Portuguese organizations and associations were supported on behalf of Ferrovial by the Director of the Atlantic Region and Portugal, Joaqu\u00edn Torres, the Director of Portugal, Gregorio Rodr\u00edguez, the Manager, Pedro Alexandre Ventura, and the Works Manager, David Capela.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
