{"id":107336,"date":"2022-07-13T11:29:04","date_gmt":"2022-07-13T09:29:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/?post_type=new&#038;p=107336"},"modified":"2022-12-20T18:06:15","modified_gmt":"2022-12-20T17:06:15","slug":"first-stone-laid-renewable-thermal-energy-project","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/first-stone-laid-renewable-thermal-energy-project\/","title":{"rendered":"First stone laid in a renewable thermal energy project in \u00c1vila (Spanish)"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>Ferrovial and DH ECOENERG\u00cdAS today laid the first stone for the construction of a renewable thermal energy network in \u00c1vila (Spain).<\/p>\n<p>The event was attended by Jes\u00fas Manuel S\u00e1nchez Cabrera, Mayor of \u00c1vila, Rub\u00e9n Rodr\u00edguez Lucas, Deputy Minister of Environment, Housing and Territorial Planning in the Castilla y Le\u00f3n Regional Government, Joaqu\u00edn Torres Feced, Ferrovial Construction Manager for the Atlantic Region and Portugal, David Pocero M\u00e1laga, Director of Energy Efficiency at Ferrovial Energy Solutions, Teo L\u00f3pez L\u00f3pez, Chairman of DH ECOENERG\u00cdAS, and Roberto de Antonio, Director of Development at DH ECOENERGIAS.<\/p>\n<p>Through its <strong>Construction subsidiary<\/strong>, Ferrovial has been awarded the contract for this district heating system, a <strong>4.1-kilometer network<\/strong> to pipe heating and hot water from a thermal plant to a nearby area with over <strong>8,000 homes.<\/strong> Ferrovial will also <strong>build the thermal plant building,<\/strong> with a floor area of close to <strong>1,050 m2.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>In addition to <strong>reducing CO2 emissions by more than 27,000 tons per year,<\/strong> the project will cut customers&#8217; heating and hot water bills by <strong>25%.<\/strong> Construction is expected to take <strong>12 months<\/strong> and will generate more than <strong>260 local jobs.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This initiative represents further progress by Ferrovial in its <strong>commitment to sustainable infrastructure<\/strong> that has a positive impact on the environment and communities. The company also built and is currently operating district<strong> heating systems<\/strong> with more than <strong>12,000 kW<\/strong> installed capacity in Vallecas (Madrid) and Txomin Enea (San Sebastian), providing energy to more than <strong>2,600 homes.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h2><strong>Ferrovial Energy Solutions<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As part of Ferrovial&#8217;s firm commitment to <strong>sustainability<\/strong> and in line with its <strong>Horizon 24 plan<\/strong>, which enshrines a commitment to creating businesses that are complementary to its core activity, the company has created an <strong>Energy Solutions<\/strong> area within its Construction division. The goal of this business unit is to <strong>execute turnkey projects for solar and wind power plants<\/strong>, and to strengthen Ferrovial&#8217;s core activities in the energy t<strong>ransmission and distribution<\/strong> and energy services fields.<\/p>\n<p>Ferrovial has<strong> 42 energy services projects<\/strong> under way, including street lighting in Madrid, municipal buildings in Vitoria, the Santiago de Compostela hospital complex, and the Txomin Enea district heating system in San Sebasti\u00e1n. It currently manages <strong>more than 300 GWh of energy overall.<\/strong><\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
