Leiria City Hall says it is helping to improve public lighting energy efficiency, adapting to and overcoming the challenges set by Portugal\u2019s energy policy in this regard.<\/p>\n<p>Leiria aims to reduce CO2 emissions by around 474,000 tons a year to some 154,000 tons per year. It also foresees a 63.2% reduction in estimated energy consumption.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>LED technology in Vila Nova de Gaia<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Vila Nova de Gaia City Council has also chosen LED technology to replace streetlamps in part of the city, with 946 lamps replaced by LED technology lighting. Of these, 218 are equipped with a remote control system, <strong>reducing Gaia City Council&#8217;s electricity bill by 70%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The new installation is a major improvement in the area\u2019s public lighting, substantially improving lighting levels while reducing consumption.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, the T\u00e2mega e Sousa Hospital Centre has also chosen Ferrovial Services to replace the exterior lighting of its facilities. This project involves installing all exterior lighting and to the building\u2019s fa\u00e7ade, a total of 217 separate lights, including pathway markers, floodlights and carpark lighting.<\/p>\n
