FMM<\/a>, a joint venture of Ferrovial Services<\/a> and Qatar Airways<\/a>, is to provide facility management<\/strong> at the Museum of Islamic Art in Qatar<\/a> for the next 3 years. The agreement with the Qatar Museums Authority, a branch of the Qatari government, includes electrical maintenance, plumbing and mechanical work<\/strong> in a facility that exceeds 45,000 sq. meters.<\/p>\n

Inaugurated in 2007, the museum focuses on 14 centuries of Islamic history. It was designed by architect I.M. Pei and stands on an artificial island built in the bay of Doha near the Dhow Harbor, where these traditional wooden boats are moored. The facility is surrounded by two large parks and is connected to the city by means of two bridges. Maintenance work under the contract will focus on the Museum, the Al Riwaq Art Space, the parks and gardens and the VIP areas<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

FMM will assign a team of engineers and technicians of more than 36 staff to this contract, providing service around the clock in 3 shifts. The Qatari company will also manage the museum’s critical infrastructure<\/strong>, such as the fire-fighting, humidity control systems and energy management. Particular attention will be paid to health and safety<\/a> in order to fulfil our Target Zero<\/a> commitment to our employees.<\/p>\n

About FMM and Qatar<\/strong><\/h2>\n

Ferrovial Services, through its subsidiary FMM, provides facility management services at Hamad International Airport<\/a>, including the passenger terminal complex, lounges, the hotel, shops, VIP areas, the catering building and roads and accesses.<\/p>\n

Hamad is Doha’s main airport and is equivalent in size to one-third of Doha itself: 22 km2<\/sup><\/strong>. The 600,000 m2<\/sup> <\/strong>passenger terminal complex serves 30 million people <\/strong>every year.<\/p>\n

The company recently expanded the range of services being delivered at the airport by obtaining a contract to manage two tunnels, including maintenance, cleaning and security, which are necessary to enhance the tunnels’ quality of service.<\/p>\n
