This past September 17, Ferrovial Agroman<\/a> opened the first\u00a0facilities at\u00a0the PHI Campus\u00a0in\u00a0Acebo, C\u00e1ceres, a project developed over 16 months by our company’s team in Extremadura. This\u00a0includes\u00a0the first two buildings that make up part of the complex that will be home to the PHI Foundation<\/a> from now on, a non-profit entity whose main objective is \u201ccreating a global,\u00a0eco-sustainable system that investigates and optimizes ever more efficient, integrated, and intelligent management models.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n

The buildings, located in the natural surroundings of Sierra de Gata, stand out for their landscape integration<\/strong>, and they will be dedicated to lodging and the Foundation’s headquarters. Advanced energy efficiency systems<\/strong> have been used in the buildings, in passive\u00a0components\u00a0in insulation and facilities such as:\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

  • Taking advantage of thesun\u2019sposition.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Thermal protection and landscape integration of the buildingsusingvegetation\u00a0for\u00a0coverage as\u00a0well as for\u00a0vertical faces.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  • Intelligent usage of ecological insulation.<\/li>\n
  • Taking advantage of natural air currents.<\/li>\n
  • Improvements in natural interior lighting.<\/li>\n
  • Limiting the building’s energy losses, properly positioning and designing the shape of the building, organizing interior spaces.<\/li>\n
  • Optimization of solar, light, and thermalcontributionswith\u00a0glazed surfaces and the use of passive systems to capture solar energy.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The project is initially made up of five buildings, two of which have been built in this first phase; one is the building\u00a0whose\u00a01081 m2<\/span>\u00a0will be used for offices, studies, and lodging that will function as the Foundation’s headquarters; the second houses a hotel equipped with thirty modern rooms, a caf\u00e9, a restaurant, and a store\u00a0over\u00a02548 m2<\/span>\u00a0of floorspace.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

    In terms of facilities, the second building is equipped with a\u00a0Biomass\u00a0boiler and\u00a0an\u00a0absorption air conditioning\u00a0system, as well as a complete ventilation system with heat recovery controlled by CO2<\/span>\u00a0gauges in every room. Similarly,\u00a0electricity\u00a0production is composed of a\u00a0standalone\u00a0system of solar panels, which makes the building\u00a0self-sufficient\u00a0and \u201coff the grid.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n

    In this first phase, an outstanding aspect is the\u00a0complete\u00a0use of the entire cycle of used water, which is\u00a0gotten\u00a0from drilled wells in summer and from a creek in winter.\u00a0A\u00a0separating system\u00a0is responsible for recovering\u00a0rainwater and\u00a0drainage water, on one hand; on the other, gray water (sinks and showers) goes\u00a0through a system of phytopurification with plants, from which\u00a0it\u00a0flows\u00a0into\u00a0a\u00a0pool and\u00a0is\u00a0used\u00a0to\u00a0water the gardens.\u00a0Sewage\u00a0goes\u00a0through a process of oxidation and phytopurification\u00a0and is\u00a0used for watering fruits and vegetables.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n
