Specifically, Ferrovial is going to make a donation to the first<strong> Maji ni Uhai<\/strong> (Water is Life) water project, which was carried out from 2008 to 2010 with the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.amref.es\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">AMREF<\/a> organization, which provides potable water and sanitary infrastructure to 51,000 people in the Mara region, in the Serengeti district of Tanzania. The European Commission recognized the project with the <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">European Award for International Cooperation for sustainable development<\/a>.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"image-section \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n        <figure class=\"image-section__figure\">\n            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.newsroom.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/15152519\/el-programa-infraestructuras-sociales-cheque-1.jpg\" title=\"The Social Infrastructure program Award recipients\" alt=\"The Social Infrastructure program Award recipients\" class=\"image-section__image\">\n                    <\/figure>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <h2>Social Infrastructure<\/h2>\n<p>The intent of the Social Infrastructure program is to <strong>improve <\/strong>and <strong>expand access to water <\/strong>and <strong>sanitation <\/strong>in vulnerable communities in Africa and Latin America, providing funds and technical support through corporate volunteering. In the 10 years that the program has been running, during which <strong>100 volunteers<\/strong> from the company have participated, <strong>25 projects <\/strong>have been completed in <strong>Africa <\/strong>and <strong>Latin America<\/strong> in collaboration with NGOD and local governments, projects that have managed to change the lives of 225,000 beneficiaries.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;At Ferrovial, we choose the NGOs to work with. Volunteers put their <strong>relevant experience<\/strong>, knowledge of the <strong>community<\/strong>, and we provide <strong>finance<\/strong>, <strong>specialists<\/strong>, training for <strong>individuals, <\/strong>and <strong>technical and technological assistance,<\/strong>&#8221; explains Cristina Moral, RSC manager at Ferrovial.<\/p>\n<h2>339 volunteer proposals<\/h2>\n<p>At this first &#8216;Telef\u00f3nica Foundation Awards for Volunteering,&#8217; a total of 339 proposals all across Spain were presented. During the gala, the 5 winners were unveiled in the different categories: <strong>communication<\/strong>,<strong> the educational field<\/strong>, <strong>a social entity<\/strong>, <strong>corporate volunteering<\/strong>, and <strong>inspirational volunteering<\/strong>, with finalists and several members of the jury in attendance.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"image-section \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n        <figure class=\"image-section__figure\">\n            <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/static.newsroom.ferrovial.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/12\/15152519\/premio-voluntariado-1.jpg\" title=\"The Social Infrastructure volunteer program\" alt=\"The Social Infrastructure volunteer program\" class=\"image-section__image\">\n                    <\/figure>\n        <\/div>\n    <\/section>\n    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>Some members of the jury were also in attendance at the awards ceremony, such as Anne Igartiburu, television presenter; Teresa Perales, paralympic swimmer and ambassador for the Telef\u00f3nica Foundation; Luciano Poyato, president of the Volunteering Platform in Spain and president of the Third Sector Platform; and Vicente del Bosque, former national soccer selector in Spain.. In addition, C\u00e9sar Alierta, president of the Telef\u00f3nica Foundation and jury foreman, and Jos\u00e9 Mar\u00eda Sanz-Magall\u00f3n, general director of the Telef\u00f3nica Foundation and jury
