We will pride ourselves on the quality of our streets, roads, lighting, tunnels and bridges in order to make Birmingham an even better place to live.\u0094<\/p>\n<p>The PFI will radically change the appearance of Birmingham. The major investment in the project is allowing the city to carry out these changes at a time when other local authorities across the UK are being forced to tighten their purse strings and reduce expenditure on highway improvements.<\/p>\n<p>Another major benefit of the contract is the employment opportunities which have been created. As well as directly creating 300 jobs, the PFI is committed to using locally based supply chain partners so that small and medium sized companies in the region also benefit from the contract.<\/p>\n
