The temporary business association formed by Ferrovial Agroman<\/a>\u00a0and Cadagua<\/a>\u00a0has been selected to design and build the Viseu Sul WWTP, the first waste water treatment plant with MBR technology<\/a>\u00a0in Portugal<\/strong>. The new infrastructure has a capacity of 30,320 m3 per day and will supply water to an equivalent of 90,000 people.<\/p>\n

The contract is worth approximately 14.54 million euros and the plant will be built over 37 months<\/strong>. It is expected to be operational at the end of 2016. Once it is running, the operation and maintenance work will extend into the following year.<\/p>\n

Thanks to the construction of the new WWTP, the Teivas and S. Salvador WWTPs will be dismantled. Large outlets and collectors will be installed to take all the waste water from the southern part of the municipality to the new installation.<\/p>\n

The installation will eliminate BOD5, COD, TSS, nitrogen, phosphorus and faecal coliforms, in order to comply with the discharge requirements in the sensitive receiving environment. The tertiary treatment shall be membrane bioreactor (MBR) and 10% of the dry weather design flow will undergo complementary treatment involving disinfection by ultraviolet radiation to enable it to be reused for irrigation and street cleaning.<\/p>\n

EMBEIRAL<\/a>, a Portuguese engineering and construction company, is also taking part in the temporary business association.<\/p>\n
