Attendees included the Madrid regional government Minister of Environment, Housing and Planning, Ana Isabel Mari\u00f1o Ortega; the Mayor of Colmenar Viejo, Jose Mar\u00eda de Federico Corral; and General Manager of Cespa, Javier Llans\u00f3 Benito.<\/p>\n<p>The plant, which was built by Ferrovial Agroman, represents an investment of 4.4 million euro. Located on a 22,000 square metre site, the plant has the capacity to process 245,000 tonnes of non-hazardous construction and demolition waste per year. Waste that arrives at the plant is crushed, sorted and screened. Re-usable waste is sold for construction projects.<\/p>\n<p>The facility has a computerised system for tracking vehicles which allows for detailed, constant monitoring of the origin, destination and type of waste. Javier Llans\u00f3, General Manager of Cespa, commented that the plant is a good example of &#8220;the Company&#8217;s commitment to sustainable development and well-being in municipalities throughout the Madrid region. We are a leading waste management company, and our efforts in research and development enable us to remain at the forefront of the sector.&#8221;<\/p>\n<h3><strong>About Cespa<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Cespa is a wholly-owned Ferrovial subsidiary which provides environmental and waste management services in Spain and Portugal. Cespa serves 12 million people in Spain and Portugal. The company cleans streets which are used by around 5.2 million people and it collects the waste of more than 5.6 million people.
