Amey<\/a>, Ferrovial Services<\/a>‘ British subsidiary, has successfully secured an eight year multi-million pound contract<\/strong> with <\/strong>one of the North of England\u0092s leading gas distributers, Northern Gas Networks<\/a><\/strong>, to support the delivery of its 3,800km gas mains replacement programme.<\/p>\n

The contract is worth around \u00a3144 million <\/strong>and will ensure that, together with Northern Gas Networks, the infrastructure remains fit for purpose to allow the continued safe and reliable delivery of gas to homes and businesses across the North of England.<\/p>\n

Amey,\u00a0one of the UK\u0092s leading public and regulated services providers,\u00a0will be responsible for maintaining over 37,000km of gas pipeline, delivering service and meter connections, as well as supporting the client with emergency repairs<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The award of the contract continues our long standing relationship with Northern Gas Networks and positions Amey as one of their main partners and suppliers of gas maintenance services across the network.<\/p>\n

Over the next eight years we will be working with Amey, as well as a number of locally based engineering businesses, to replace more than 3,800km of old metal gas pipes with modern plastic equivalents. It\u0092s a hugely important undertaking and will ensure that our customers and their future generations continue to benefit from a safe and reliable gas supply.\u0094<\/p>\n

The contract award comes just weeks after Amey picked up three separate contracts, one with the Highways Agency to manage and maintain over 600 miles of strategic roads across East Anglia, a contract with Transport Scotland where Amey is in a partnership to upgrade the motorway network, and a contract with Welsh Water to deliver water services in South Wales.<\/p>\n
