  <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>The &#8220;Intelligent Energy&#8221; initiative is being led by five public universities: King Juan Carlos University, Alcal\u00e1 University, Murcia University, Cartagena Technical University, and Extremadura University, together with Centro de Investigaciones Energ\u00e9ticas, Medioambientales y Tecnol\u00f3gicas (CIEMAT) and Instituto Madrile\u00f1o de Estudios Avanzados en Energ\u00eda (IMDEA Energ\u00eda).<\/p>\n<p>The Spanish Institute for Energy Diversification and Saving (IDAE), which is an agency of the Ministry of Industry, Tourism and Trade, is also a partner in the project due to its commitment to energy efficiency and renewable energy.<\/p>\n<p>The &#8220;Intelligent Energy&#8221; campus will work on two areas: creating new energy products to maintain economic development with a zero or negative carbon footprint based on raw materials that do not compete with the food market, and developing infrastructures (both buildings and transport) that optimize energy usage.<\/p>\n<p>The ten partners in the project together employ over 9,000 researchers, own more than 700 patents and spent over 250 million euro on R&amp;D in 2010.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
