{"id":5540,"date":"2014-05-29T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-05-29T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/news\/report-shows-heathrow-is-making-strong-progress-against-its-2020-sustainability-goals\/"},"modified":"2022-12-21T10:15:23","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T09:15:23","slug":"report-shows-heathrow-is-making-strong-progress-against-its-2020-sustainability-goals","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/report-shows-heathrow-is-making-strong-progress-against-its-2020-sustainability-goals\/","title":{"rendered":"Report shows Heathrow is making strong progress against its 2020 sustainability goals"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p><strong>Heathrow<\/strong> has released its annual report for 2013, tracking developments against its 2020 <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/heathrow-galardonado-business-community\/\">sustainability goals<\/a>. 2013 was a year for launching several new measures to improve Heathrow as a responsible business and a year of records of achievement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/es\/category\/heathrow\/\">Heathrow<\/a>\u2019s key<strong> milestones achieved<\/strong> in 2013 were:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Launched a 2,2 million euro adobe scheme offering 21 local schools \u00a385,000 each<b>\u00a0<\/b>to install eco-friendly \u201cAdobe\u201d huts in their playgrounds<\/li>\n<li>Completed construction of <strong>Terminal 2, our most sustainable terminal<\/strong> powered by 20% renewable energy. As a result, we achieved the world\u2019s first <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breeam.es\/\" target=\"_blank\">BREEAM<\/a> rating for an airport terminal<\/li>\n<li>The Heathrow Clean Vehicles Partnership celebrated 10 years operating. The partnership of 22 Heathrow companies<strong> has reduced emissions<\/strong> from 3,000 vehicles<b>\u00a0<\/b>through trials of new, cleaner vehicle types and sharing best practice.<\/li>\n<li>Invested 920.000 euro\u00a0in the Community Trust and 1,230.000 euro\u00a0in the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.airportcommunitiestrust.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Hillingdon Community Trust. <\/a><\/em>Both trusts invest in grants for local projects.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Heathrow\u2019s continued commitment to collaborative working across the airport community via the <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.heathrowairport.com\/about-us\/community-and-environment\/responsible-heathrow\/heathrow-sustainability-partnership\" target=\"_blank\">Heathrow Sustainability Partnership<\/a><\/em> has had a large part to play in progress made during 2013. Working closely with the airlines was crucial to launching Heathrow\u2019s Fly Quiet programme to<strong> encourage quieter, cleaner aircraft<\/strong> and improve operating procedures. Several airlines have already been extremely responsive in working with Heathrow to improve their ranking. Investing in local community was also crucial and all 21 schools are hoping to take part in the adobe scheme.<\/p>\n<p>Heathrow has also launched \u201cResponsible Heathrow 2020\u201d; which brings our existing sustainability efforts together to make more accessible our 2020 goals to reduce Heathrow\u2019s environmental impacts;<strong> support economic growth<\/strong> and invest in communities; while looking after passengers and people. Aligned to Heathrow\u2019s 5 year business plan, Responsible Heathrow\u2019s 2020 goals are supported by detailed strategies and action plans for each issue area.<\/p>\n<p><a
