The Secretary of State for the Environment, Federico Ramos, and representatives of the Spanish companies that make up the Spanish Group for Green Growth, which includes Ferrovial<\/a>, has presented plans to follow to the European Commission in terms of climate change to move towards a sustainable, low-carbon economy.<\/p>\n

According to Valent\u00edn Alfaya, Manager for Quality and the Environment<\/a>, “During this visit we had the privilege to meet in a relaxed atmosphere with four European Commissioners in addition to the Vice President Katainen, on the energy and environmental future of the EU, with an eye on the 2030 agenda and the need to reach a binding agreement on climate change in the Paris summit to be held later this year. It has been an excellent opportunity to convey our expectations to the new Commission, and understand what will be the common themes of governing the Union”.<\/p>\n

\"Presentaci\u00f3nThe Spanish Group for Green Growth aims to develop, together with the Government, the strategy to follow on the European Commission’s Climate and Energy agreement in 2030 and the global agreement that is expected to be approved in Paris this year.<\/strong> In addition, the group exchanges information related to climate change, identifies market opportunities and provides suggestions for the design of effective and realistic policies.<\/p>\n

The Secretary of State for the Environment said during the meeting that “the great challenges of this century include climate change, reducing emissions and environmental conservation. In this regard, it is strategic for Spain to have a business sector that is well positioned in this area. The constitution of the Spanish Group for Green Growth marks the beginning of a fruitful collaboration between the private sector and the public administration.”<\/p>\n

Member of the Spanish Green Growth Group<\/h3>\n

Last November, Ferrovial and another 17 companies joined the Spanish Group for Green Growth, under the “First Forum of the Spanish Group for Green Growth”. Currently, the group brings together more than 30 companies, including most of the Ibex35.<\/p>\n

The work group will continue to have regular and frequent meetings throughout 2015, acting under the European Green Growth Group model. This group is a platform located within the framework of the European Commission, together with the ministers and members of Parliament working on defining the EU’s energy and environmental agenda for 2030 and 2050.<\/p>\n

Green Growth Group Platform<\/h3>\n

Ferrovial has been a member of the Green Growth Group Platform since 2013. This is a space for knowledge sharing, learning and cooperation made up of 13 ministers of the European Union (including Spain), Members of Parliament, and a score of multinational companies with interests in the EU. This group aims to advise the Commission on the EU’s economic and environmental agenda and climate change targets by 2030.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
