Heathrow Airport<\/a> has been distinguished as the “Best airport in Western Europe” at the Skytrax World Airport Awards.<\/a> This is the first time that the London hub has been recognised by passengers in this category.<\/p>\n

In addition, Heathrow has again been honoured at the awards for the quality of its shops, restaurants and terminals and has been named the \u201cBest Airport for Shopping\u201d<\/strong> for the sixth year running, and Terminal 5 has been recognised for the fourth consecutive year as the \u201cBest Airport Terminal\u201d.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Normand Boivin, COO of Heathrow, stressed that “it is an honour for us to have received these awards. We strive every day to ensure that the passenger experience at our airports improves. ”<\/p>\n

Both the Skytrax World Airport Awards and the World Airport Awards reflect the results of an independent survey where passengers themselves assess the service quality of the major airports in Europe.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Skytrax World Airport Survey is a benchmark survey in evaluating the service quality of the airport industry worldwide. It collects the ratings of users of 388 airports. Passengers of different nationalities participated in the survey, who evaluated the travel experience by analysing various aspects of the airport such as check-in and transit services, waiting times, shopping and security.<\/p>\n

Honours for Heathrow<\/h3>\n

These recognitions are added to the list of awards Heathrow has recently received. Among them, Terminal 2, along with Star Alliance, has been distinguished as the “World\u2019s Airport of the Year”, at the Air Transport World\u2019s 41st Annual Airline Industry Achievement Awards. In addition, the new Terminal 2 was also recognised late last year for the new carpark that makes up part of its facilities.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
