The works to be carried out will consist in laying 80km of high-performance tracks between C\u00e1ceres and M\u00e9rida, and between M\u00e9rida and Badajoz, as well as the renovation of 7km of track, in the stations of the three Extremaduran cities, in order to adapt them to take high-speed trains. The total cost of the three contracted projects stands at 11.7m Euros.<\/p>\n<h3>Works activities will include the following:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Taking up 2,500m of track<\/li>\n<li>Taking up 18 sets of switches and points<\/li>\n<li>Spreading 215,000 cubic metres of ballast<\/li>\n<li>Fitting 141,200 concrete sleepers<\/li>\n<li>Unloading and fitting 174,000m of track<\/li>\n<li>Assembling 18 provisional sets of switches and points for the works logistics<\/li>\n<li>Assembling 30 conventional switches and points<\/li>\n<li>Assembling 6 high-speed track switches and points<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The route passes through the municipalities of C\u00e1ceres, Carmonita, M\u00e9rida, Garrovilla, Torremayor, Montijo, Guadiana del Caudillo, Pueblonuevo del Guadiana, Novelda del Guadiana and Badajoz, near to the border with Portugal, our neighbouring country.<\/p>\n<p>With the awarding of these contracts, a new boost has been given to connecting Extremadura to the Spanish high-speed network.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
