{"id":5866,"date":"2016-01-15T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2016-01-15T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/news\/ferrovial-continues-to-support-innovation-and-renews-its-agreement-with-mit\/"},"modified":"2022-12-21T10:05:01","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T09:05:01","slug":"ferrovial-continues-to-support-innovation-and-renews-its-agreement-with-mit","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/ferrovial-continues-to-support-innovation-and-renews-its-agreement-with-mit\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrovial continues to support innovation and renews its agreement with MIT"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>In line with its open innovation strategy, Ferrovial has renewed its agreement with the <a title=\"Massachusetts Institute of Technology website\" href=\"http:\/\/web.mit.edu\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow\">Massachusetts Institute of Technology<\/a> for a further five years (until 2020), to support research projects aimed at <a title=\"Ferrovial transforming cities\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business-lines\/ferrovial-services\/centres-of-excellence\/cities\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow\">transforming cities<\/a> and developing the infrastructures of the future, as a sustaining member of the MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBy renewing our agreement with the MITEI, we are entering into a partnership to develop energy innovation projects that benefit both the company and society,\u201d explains <a title=\"Interview with Federico Fl\u00f3rez\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.ferrovial.com\/en\/2015\/10\/an-interview-with-federico-florez-ciio-of-ferrovial-the-influence-of-startups-is-very-important-because-it-is-usually-a-very-groundbreaking-innovation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow\">Federico Fl\u00f3rez<\/a>, General Manager of Information and Innovation Systems.<\/p>\n<p>With this agreement, Ferrovial will support several research projects promoted by this prestigious academic institution. These projects will help to increase its scientific and technical knowledge and helps us face the company&#8217;s energy challenges.<\/p>\n<p>Between 2011 and 2015, Ferrovial developed 11 projects which focused on the areas of construction, cities, infrastructure, water treatment, <a title=\"The Value of Waste, Ferrovial blog\" href=\"https:\/\/blog.ferrovial.com\/en\/2015\/11\/the-circular-economy-the-value-of-waste\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow\">waste treatment<\/a> and energy efficiency, among others. The results of these projects were positive for the business.<\/p>\n<h2>MITEI and innovation<\/h2>\n<p>The MIT Energy Initiative (MITEI), created in September 2006, is an initiative that is developed all over the Institute, with the aim of helping to transform the global energy system so that it meets the needs of the future, and of building a bridge towards the future by improving current energy systems. The MITEI&#8217;s programme includes research, training, energy management on campus and other activities that cover all the areas of energy supply and demand, safety and environmental impact.<\/p>\n
