The number of seats per aircraft has increased to 2.1%, growing to 209 seats per flight. In addition to this, Heathrow boasts 20 daily A380 departures (the world&#8217;s largest passenger airliners).<\/p>\n<h3>Cargo and emerging markets<\/h3>\n<p>During 2015 almost 1.5 million metric tonnes of cargo travelled through the airport. The growth of emerging markets is one of the factors driving the increase in traffic with a 14% increase in passenger numbers to China and 8% to Latin America. In December, cargo within emerging markets increased dramatically with the total for Nigeria doubling and China and Turkey both increasing by 20%.<\/p>\n<h3>Awards<\/h3>\n<p>In the past decade Heathrow has invested over 11 billion pounds in improving the service it offers and as a result of this received a number of awards this past year. In 2015 <a href=\"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/heathrow-airport-the-worlds-eighth-favourite-airport-according-to-skytraxs-rankings\/\"title=\"News, Heathrow voted Best Airport in Western Europe\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow\">Heathrow was voted Skytrax\u2019s \u201cBest Airport in Western Europe\u201d<\/a> as well as being awarded \u201cWorld\u2019s Best Airport Terminal\u201d. They also received prestigious titles like \u201cBest Airport in Europe\u201d by <a title=\"ACI Europe website\" href=\"https:\/\/www.aci-europe.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">ACI Europe<\/a>, \u201cBest Airport in UK \u2013over 10 million passengers-\u201d by <a title=\"Airport Operators Association website\" href=\"http:\/\/www.aoa.org.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Airport Operators Association<\/a>, \u201cAirport of the Year\u201d by The Independent Travel Awards.<\/p>\n<p>A survey conducted by the Airports Council International (ACI) called The Independent Airport Service Quality (ASQ) survey shows that Heathrow is surpassing other big European hub airports. According to a press release Heathrow\u2019s CEO John Holland-Kaye said the figures are the result of a significant increase in training and a \u201cnumber of front line colleagues moving into
