Federico Fl\u00f3rez, Chief Information and Innovation Officer at Ferrovial is one of four CIOs at international level to receive a CIO Innovation Award from Forbes<\/a>. The award was open to chief information officers of any multi-billion dollar business who have demonstrated the ability to generate real revenue growth. All of the CIOs awarded are leaders in information who have harnessed technology to increase profit margins.<\/p>\n

The award was presented at the Forbes CIO Summit<\/a> on March 7th<\/sup> at the Ritz Carlton at Half Moon Bay California where the theme of the summit was \u2018Transform, Disrupt, Accelerate: The New Roadmap for Technology Leadership.\u2019 The summit aims to support CIOs such as Federico Florez who are ambitious, open-minded, creative and strategic and the event was designed to help professionals advance in their careers though tapping into the knowledge of other global innovation leaders.<\/p>\n

As well as being presented on stage at the event, the winners will also be featured in Peter High\u2019s Technovation column on the Forbes website. Federico has appeared on the Forbes website previously as he was interviewed by them in March of last year where he shared his views on the importance of a company strategy that reflects the digitalization of business.<\/p>\n

Federico Fl\u00f3rez has led the Information Technology and Innovation Department<\/a> at Ferrovial since 2008 and was previously the CIO at the Bank of Spain. As CIO he has set the innovation strategy for Ferrovial\u2019s four business lines, not only aiming for the best technology, but also acknowledging the importance of research, trial and error and investing in a new generation of companies – startups.<\/p>\n
