Ferrovial has hosted at the headquarters of the Corporate University, SUMMA<\/a>, a conference on climate change<\/a> within the “Network of Global Change Monitoring in National Parks” project.<\/p>\n

This event, where representatives of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and the Environment, directors of National Parks and all project partners as well as the Manager of Quality, Safety and the Environment at Ferrovial, Valentin Alfaya, were present has served to exchange views and discuss the roadmap of this public\/private initiative, with Ferrovial Agroman<\/a> as a business partner.<\/p>\n

During the event, work was carried out on developing a communication plan, the need to maintain calls for support for research in this area by the different entities involved, adding new national parks to this network and creating citizen science programmes associated with this project.<\/p>\n

This initiative is carried out through a collaboration agreement between the Autonomous National Parks Organisation<\/a>, the Spanish Office of Climate Change, the Meteorological Agency and the Biodiversity Foundation<\/a> in collaboration with Ferrovial-Agroman and aims to increase awareness of the effects of global change by taking data “in situ” and encouraging the development of a system to evaluate and monitor the impact that may occur on the National Parks network. Because of its low level of human influence, these jewels of the natural capital of our country are considered the best test centres to understand what effects a changing climate, increasingly warm in our biogeographic zone, as predicted by scientists, will have on ecosystems and natural resources.<\/p>\n

Network of Climate Change Monitoring in National Parks<\/h2>\n

The Network of Global Change Monitoring in National Parks is an example of the importance of a public-private partnership for the implementation of projects to benefit the environment.<\/p>\n

This project has therefore created an infrastructure for capturing climate data by installing a network of weather stations. Data that are processed and available for use by the scientific community in order to develop a system of evaluation and monitoring of impacts that can be generated in national parks as a result of global change<\/a>.<\/p>\n
