Ferrovial Services<\/a> outlined its vision and the latest trends on energy services and management of medical waste in the Fourth Global Meeting of Hospital Engineering. This conference, held recently in Cordoba, brought together more than 60 public administration professionals who shared the challenges of the future together with different companies and experts in the health sector.<\/p>\n

Energy efficiency in hospitals: Severo Ochoa Hospital<\/h2>\n

During the first day, the company collaborated in an experience panel to discuss the case of Severo Ochoa Hospital in Leganes, Madrid, in which Ferrovial Services will soon implement a new contract for energy services that will enable savings of 15 million euros to be made. This energy efficiency model will achieve economic, operational and environmental improvements, in addition to cost savings from the start of the contract.<\/p>\n

Medical waste management: optimising the carbon footprint<\/h3>\n

On the second day, Ferrovial Services participated in a panel discussion on environmental management and sustainability, where it stressed that the bins of the health centers are the main foci of residues responsible for the carbon footprint, so their use should be optimised. It also indicated that it will invest in training in ecodriving in medical transport to save on fuel and reduce environmental impact.<\/p>\n

Through this meeting, Ferrovial Services has reflected its commitment and capabilities in innovation for the management of hospitals, both in energy efficiency and environmental management, helping to position itself as a leader in the Spanish health sector.<\/p>\n

More than 600 hospitals internationally<\/h4>\n

Ferrovial Services has extensive experience in the management and maintenance of hospitals. It is present in 650 hospitals and health centers in Spain, the United Kingdom and internationally, totalling more than 30,000 beds. It undertakes maintenance activities aimed at energy efficiency of hospital facilities, in which it applies the most innovative management systems.<\/p>\n

A clear example is the Valdecilla Hospital<\/a> in Santander, which is a project that covers engineering and maintenance of facilities, electromedical equipment, energy management and medical records, as well as logistics, comprehensive cleaning, restoration and surveillance. Other centres where the company provides services in Spain are the hospitals of La Paz, Gregorio Mara\u00f1\u00f3n and 12 de octubre, in Madrid; Virgen del Roc\u00edo hospital in Seville; and the University Hospital of Valladolid.<\/p>\n
