The construction of the NTE 35W<\/strong> highway has reached its half way point.\u00a0Robert Hinkle<\/strong>, Director of Corporate Affairs for North Tarrant Express<\/a><\/strong>, said<\/p>\n

“there are more than 1,200 professionals working every day to complete\u00a0 the project. Drivers should start to notice more of the highway opening than closing”.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

The opening to traffic is scheduled for 2018.<\/p>\n

NTE 35W<\/strong> is a new 12 mile (19 kilometer) extension of the North Tarrant Express<\/strong>. The project includes Segment 3A<\/strong>, 10.5 kilometers along the length of the I-35W highway from downtown Fort Worth<\/a> to the IH-820 interchange; the link between the I-35W and the IH-820; and Segment 3B<\/strong>, 5.8 kilometers in length running from the connection with the IH-820 to the US 287.<\/p>\n

In the past few weeks, there have been major openings of new ramps within the IH-820 and I-35W interchange and at major cross streets along the corridor at 28th Street, Northside Drive and Meacham Boulevard.<\/p>\n

“We still have to demolish a lot and we have to build new ramps.\u00a0 There will continue to be impacts, so drivers must continue to be patient and safe because of the ongoing changes”, said Robert Hinkle<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The project will include remodeling of existing lanes, which will be toll-free; building two additional electronic toll lanes in each direction (managed lanes), and the operation and maintenance of the entire roadway.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n
