Heathrow Airport<\/a> achieved a record number of passengers this July \u20137.20 million passengers- and the last day of July was its busiest ever day with over 254,000 passengers passing through the airport.<\/p>\n

The increase in passenger figures was driven in part by strong traffic to emerging markets. Traffic to Mexico was up by 29.5%, to the Middle East 13.3% and China 13.7%.<\/p>\n

Heathrow also put the growth in volume of passenger traffic down to the \u201clarger, quieter aircraft\u201d in use. Seats per aircraft increased 2.3% to 209.6 while passengers per aircraft rose 4.1% to 175.6; Due to the high passenger demand both to and from the airport, Heathrow has introduced a number of new aircraft and the airport is in fact one of the most popular in the world for airlines using A380s..\u00a0 Heathrow also has a record number of Dreamliners, the industry leading aircraft up to 20% more fuel efficient and 20-25% quieter.<\/p>\n

Furthermore, cargo volumes at Heathrow, the UK\u2019s biggest port by value, recorded growth of 3.2% over the past 12 months, with increases to notable emerging markets including 41.3% to Mexico, 26.3% to Turkey, 18.6% to Brazil, 10.7% to India;<\/p>\n
