Last month the toll road\u00a0LBJ Express\u00a0project<\/a> received the award for Best Project at\u00a0ENR Global Awards<\/a> and\u00a0Best Project and Award of Merit for Safety at ENR Texas & Louisiana.<\/a>\u00a0The contest joins ENR’s successful regional and national U.S. competitions in identifying and honoring the project teams behind outstanding design and construction efforts of the past year.<\/p>\n

Road\/Highway Gobal Best Project at ENR Global Award<\/h2>\n

The american highway LBJ Express received this prestigious award at the annual competition which highlights teamwork and overcoming hurdles of designing and building internationally.<\/strong>The judges looked at projects in many markets and examined safety performance, innovations, challenges, and design and construction quality – with a special emphasis on the diversity of global project teams and their collaboration. They also considered how the project benefits the local community and\/or the construction industry.<\/p>\n

Industry veterans selected 23 projects hailing from 15 different countries<\/strong> and five continents as outstanding examples of the risks and rewards – and the hurdles overcome – of designing and building internationally.<\/p>\n

Best Project and Award of Merit for Safety at\u00a0ENR Texas & Louisiana<\/h2>\n

An independent panel of judges evaluated selected 34 Best Projects and award of merit winners across 18 categories. This panel also judged a Project of of the Year for the region and one of the finalists was LBJ Express as Best Project in the Highway\/Bridge category<\/strong> and award of Merit for Excellence in Safety.<\/strong>\u00a0Trinity Infrastructure, the joint venture between Ferrovial Agroman US<\/a> and Webber<\/a>, led design and construction, the first comprehensive development agreement in Dallas County.<\/p>\n

That panel selected a number of factors to pick the winners, including collaboration and teamwork, project challenges and solutions, and safety records. Innovative design or construction solutions, contribution to the construction industry and the community, plus design quality and construction craftsmanship were also considered. Entries were not accepted for projects with a construction-related death.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, two safety experts pored over the more than 50 entries<\/strong> for this year’s Excellence in Safety Award, ultimately selecting one winner and four awards of merit.<\/strong> Key factors included lost-time and recordable incident rates versus total man-hours worked as well as execution and quality of jobsite-specific safety and health programs.<\/p>\n
