The designated individual must have a professional HR <strong>certification,<\/strong> be a <strong>member of <a title=\"HR Houston\" href=\"http:\/\/www.hrhouston.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\"> HR Houston<\/a>,<\/strong> be currently employed with <strong>more than 10 years\u2019 experience<\/strong> in HR management, be a strategic <strong>business partner,<\/strong> serve as a <strong>role model<\/strong> for the occupation, be a leader who sets standards and applies their professional expertise outside their organization.<\/p>\n<p>It was based on this criteria that Beckman was nominated and chosen by the HR Houston panel of directors, most notably for the work he does <strong>speaking to external organizations<\/strong> (e.g the <a title=\"Texas Department of Transportation\" href=\"https:\/\/www.txdot.gov\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow\">Texas Department of Transportation<\/a> and\u00a0various Universities ) on themes of culture ,values and safety. He also cares greatly about <strong>mentoring and volunteer work<\/strong> in the HR community, serving on multiple boards and committees.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;Every company wants to be an employer of choice and that starts and ends with the Human Resources team,&#8221; commented Tim Creson, president &amp; CEO of Webber, LLC. &#8220;Mitch has been a driving force in making our company a great place to work during the past 11 years and he is extremely passionate about his role at Webber and the values of our organization.&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<h2><strong>About Mitch Beckman<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>As Vice President of Human Resources, Safety, Health and Environment for Webber, LLC, Beckman\u2019s main role is to lead talent development and along with the leadership team, accelerate the company forward. With over 25 years of experience in the engineering and construction industry, Beckman is often regardarded highly as a speaker in the areas of<strong> leadership, communication, HR management, administrative performance<\/strong> and<strong> safety management.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>He is an active member of the <a title=\"Society of Human Resource Management\" href=\"https:\/\/www.shrm.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Society of Human Resource Management,<\/a> <a title=\"American Society of Training Development\" href=\"https:\/\/www.td.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">American Society of Training and Development, <\/a><a title=\"Associated General Contractors\" href=\"https:\/\/www.agc.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow\">Associated General Contractors (AGC) of America<\/a> and <a title=\"AGC of Texas\" href=\"https:\/\/agctx.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow\">AGC of Texas<\/a> where he is member of several committees and teams as it relates to human resources management and development initiatives, and was previously a president of the HR Houston Board of Directors.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>About the HR Houston Tom Burke Award<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>Thomas B. Burke, SPHR, was a <strong>special individual<\/strong> who was a <strong>cherished leader<\/strong> in the human resource profession &#8211; a Past President of the chapter and a Past President of the Society for Human Resource Management. At the time of his death in 1996, HHRMA (HR Houston) established the Tom Burke Award for the Distinguished Professional in Human Resources in his memory.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
