Ferrovial has been awarded by the newspaper La Raz\u00f3n <\/strong><\/em><\/a>for its Social Infrastructures Ferrovial <\/strong><\/a>. Juan Francisco Polo<\/strong>, Director of Communications and Corporate Responsibility<\/strong> of the company, attended the awards ceremony. Moreover, the Minister of Health, Social Services and Equality<\/strong>, Dolors Monserrat<\/strong>, was in charge of handing in the recognitions. These awards highlight an outstanding performance regarding innovation and investigative effort in the areas of health, environment and energy, science and technology.<\/p>\n

The Social Infrastructures program has meant a step forward in Ferrovial\u2019s Corporate Responsibility <\/strong>strategy<\/strong>, through which the company contributes towards development in a direct and active way. This model of cooperation towards development constitutes support from the company to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG)<\/strong><\/a> established by United Nations<\/strong>, specifically the SDG 6 related to Clean Water and Sanitation.<\/p>\n

Through this initiative, Ferrovial selects each year projects that intervene in vulnerable communities and that seek to palliate a situation of weakness or scarcity of infrastructures devoted to water supply for human consumption and basic sanitation. On the other hand, by means of the corporate volunteering<\/strong> program of the company, the employees contribute with their knowledge and professional experience<\/strong> in the field depending on the previously identified needs.<\/p>\n

Ferrovial’s social infrastructures program\u00a0history<\/h2>\n

Since 2008, Ferrovial and its workers have improved and widened the coverage and access to water<\/strong> for human consumption, as well as basic sanitation<\/strong> among collectives in risk of social vulnerability in Africa and Latin America. Besides, their sustainability with an integral management of the resources is guaranteed. Since its beginning, 4.5 million euro have been devoted to insure access to potable water for 191,769 people<\/strong> in different countries of the aforementioned continents.<\/p>\n
