Ferrovial<\/strong> and Cintra<\/strong> <\/a>have launched a pilot project on the Autema highway<\/strong>\u00a0<\/a>to promote the use of the road safety app,\u00a0DriveSmart<\/a>,\u00a0<\/strong>amongst drivers, both on the motorway itself and its areas of influence. The aim of the project, which is included in Ferrovial\u2019s <\/strong>Safe and Sustainable Mobility Plan, is to improve driver road safety. This initiative is also in line with Ferrovial\u2019s<\/strong> commitment to the use of new technologies for improving the health and safety of staff and customers.<\/p>\n

The DriveSmart app analyses driver behaviour to detect unsafe habits<\/strong> and improve<\/strong> and reward<\/strong> careful driving performance. The safety road app can thus identify safe driving patterns and link them to parameters associated with the risk of road accidents.<\/p>\n

Using DriveSmart, drivers can assess their own driving patterns through scores awarded by the app based on speeding, rapid accelerations or hard braking, amongst other indicators. The application awards points for safe driving patterns and deducts points for unsafe habits and\/or behaviours at the wheel.<\/p>\n

The pilot project began on 1st<\/sup> June and will run for 14 months. Through this platform, users may be awarded monthly or annual rewards which are translated into free trips on the Autema<\/strong> <\/a>motorway. The data collected through the project will also be analysed to gain knowledge of existing driving patterns in order to continue introducing measures to promote road user safety, based on safe driving habits and accident prevention.<\/p>\n

This joint project between Ferrovial-Cintra-Autema<\/strong> and the safety road app\u00a0DriveSmart<\/strong> aims to reduce the number of road accidents, specially at key moments in time such as increased traffic during the summer holiday months.<\/p>\n

According to data collected by the application on a national level over the first half of 2017, drivers in Spain have registered a smaller number of incidents (speeding, hard braking, rapid accelerations, turns and untimely reactions to traffic signs) on intercity routes than in 2016, with an average of 15,14 per 100 km driven<\/strong>.<\/p>\n
