{"id":6761,"date":"2017-07-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2017-07-28T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/news\/amey-contracted-to-maintain-street-lighting-in-east-renfrewshire\/"},"modified":"2024-11-11T20:04:27","modified_gmt":"2024-11-11T19:04:27","slug":"amey-contracted-to-maintain-street-lighting-in-east-renfrewshire","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/amey-contracted-to-maintain-street-lighting-in-east-renfrewshire\/","title":{"rendered":"Amey contracted to maintain street lighting in East Renfrewshire"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p><em>East Renfrewshire Council has awarded <a title=\"Amey\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business-lines\/ferrovial-services\/about-ferrovial-services\/ferrovial-services-united-kingdom\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Amey<\/a> with a new street lighting maintenance contract which will entail the upgrade, maintenance\u00a0and repair its lights.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Amey will provide maintenance, repair and replacement services for the Council\u2019s<strong> 15,000 street lights<\/strong>, <strong>1,000 illuminated signs<\/strong> and <strong>traffic bollards,<\/strong> as well as a <strong>24-hour emergency cover<\/strong> for any incidents on the road network. The contract will be worth over <strong>\u00a32 million<\/strong> and will take place over the next four years.<\/p>\n<p>Amey has managed the street lighting service in <a title=\"East Refrewshire\" href=\"http:\/\/www.eastrenfrewshire.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">East Renfrewshire <\/a>since August 2012. The new contract will consist of replacing street lights with new LED lanterns, which are <strong>more efficient and cost effective<\/strong> for the council. Amey has maintained street lighting in the area for the last five years and has offered an excellent level of service, given that this requires sophisticated civil infrastructure work to upgrade existing cable networks.The award of this contract<strong> strengthens the services offered locally<\/strong> as well as the<strong> investment in local infrastructures<\/strong> for the community.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cAmey has maintained street lighting in the area for the last five years and in that period we have received an excellent level of service,\u201d said the council\u2019s environment director, Andrew Cahill.<\/p>\n<p>In addition, James Haluch, managing director of Amey\u2019s highways business unit, said: \u201cThis contract win will enable us to further strengthen our local knowledge, and alongside East Renfrewshire Council continue investing in local infrastructure to benefit local people and communities.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Amey also carries out\u00a0street lighting maintenance\u00a0for <a title=\"North Lanarkshire Council\" href=\"http:\/\/www.northlanarkshire.gov.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">North Lanarkshire Council,<\/a> <a title=\"Transport Scotland\" href=\"https:\/\/www.transport.gov.scot\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Transport Scotland <\/a>and <a title=\"Highways England\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/organisations\/highways-england\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Highways England,<\/a> operating more than <strong>600,000 street lighting systems<\/strong> across Scotland and England.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
