As part of 407 ETR\u2019s \u201cOne Big Day\u201d employee volunteering event on June 21, 2017, over seventy 407 ETR<\/a> staff members volunteered at various community service agencies throughout the Greater Toronto and Hamilton Area.<\/em><\/p>\n

One Big Day represents the largest single-day, multi-location employee volunteering event in company’s history, and forms part of the company\u2019s initiative entitled\u201c407 For Our Communities<\/strong>\u201d, which is a successful corporate social responsibility program that encourages employee volunteerism.
\nAt this year\u2019s One Big Day event, 407 ETR <\/strong>staff members volunteered at the Daily Bread Food Bank in Toronto<\/a>, the Knight\u2019s Table in Brampton,<\/a> the Kipling Acres\u2019 Long-Term Care Home<\/a> in Etobicoke, the Vita Community Living Services Centre <\/a>in North York, and the Horizons for Youth Shelter <\/a>in Toronto. \u00a0The activities involved included bagging\u00a0groceries, cooking and distributing food for families in need, facilitating a birthday celebration for seniors, painting and cleaning at care facilities<\/strong>, as well as preparing shelter areas<\/strong>\u00a0for youth in need.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am very proud that the 407 ETR team came out in such great numbers and continue to do this important work in the community,\u201d said 407 ETR <\/strong>President and CEO, Andres Sacristan<\/strong>.\u201cWe\u2019ve had amazing feedback from our volunteers and the community organizations we\u2019ve assisted and we are happy to be able to make a difference<\/strong> for people in our communities.\u201d<\/p>\n

Stacie Murie from Horizons for Youth in Toronto said, \u201cWe are very appreciative that 407 ETR <\/strong>employees took time out of their busy days to volunteer at Horizons for Youth. Their passion, enthusiasm and hard work<\/strong> made a difference in the lives of the homeless and at-risk youth we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Lena Shaw from Knight\u2019s Table in Brampton said, \u201c407 ETR <\/strong>team members are a force of goodness exemplified in dedication, desire and teamwork \u2013 like a well-oiled machine. We would welcome them back in a second.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

In addition to encouraging\u00a0staff into volunteerism through the 407 For Our Communities program and the annual One Big Day<\/strong> event, 407 ETR <\/strong>is focused on supporting the communities which they serve through donations and sponsorships to local organizations, such as giving back through the United Way<\/a>, helping to finance\u00a0hospitals<\/strong> and rehabilitation centres,<\/strong> sponsorship of young sports teams<\/strong>, scholarships for university graduate programs<\/strong> and the Lassonde School of Engineering, <\/a>research into cures for childhood cancers<\/strong>, and continuous\u00a0driver safety\/education initiatives.<\/strong><\/p>\n
