To mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women<\/a> on 25 November<\/strong>, Ferrovial will carry out a number of activities in support of the commitments undertaken in its agreement with the Ministry for Health, Social Services and Equality<\/a> to promote raising awareness on gender-based violence<\/strong> and help women who are victims of gender violence into employment.<\/p>\n

Awareness-raising activities<\/h2>\n

As part of its commitment to ending gender violence, Ferrovial will today provide bracelets<\/strong> with information on the government campaign Hay salida<\/em><\/strong> (There\u2019s a way out), driven by the Ministry of Health, Social Services and Equality, to staff at its Head Office<\/a>, Construction<\/a> division, Cintra<\/a>, Services <\/a>division and Madrid Airport.<\/p>\n

Ferrovial Services will also distribute these bracelets amongst staff working on contracts in the communities of Madrid and Castilla-La Mancha<\/strong>, building on the fact that such staff are in close contact with the general public and can therefore make the campaign more visible and help raise awareness on this issue<\/strong>. More specifically, this year\u2019s activities will be carried out together with the Madrid City Council at the city\u2019s Recycling Points, as well as in the following contracts in Castilla-La Mancha: Cleaning of buildings and schools at Alc\u00e1zar de San Juan, Street cleaning in Talavera de la Reina, Home help at Talavera de la Reina, Home help at Valdepe\u00f1as, 112 Castilla La Mancha, Cleaning of Toledo hospital complex, and GESMAT<\/p>\n

And, to give further visibility to the campaign and our commitment, we will be hanging banners<\/strong> with the message \u201cLet\u2019s build a world free from gender violence<\/strong>\u201d<\/em> at some of our most iconic building sites in Madrid.<\/p>\n

Action protocol against gender-based violence<\/h2>\n

Within the framework of Equality Plan II<\/strong>, launched in 2015 with the aim of upholding the principle of equal opportunities and equal treatment for men and women<\/strong>, an internal action protocol was developed for potential cases of gender violence. This protocol provides guidelines for the protection of female colleagues who may be suffering this type of violence.<\/p>\n

Ferrovial\u2019s commitment<\/h2>\n

In 2013, Ferrovial joined the campaign Companies for a society free from violence against women<\/em><\/a>\u00a0driven by the Ministry for Health, Social Services and Equality to raise awareness amongst the general public on issues of equality between men and women and respect for basic human rights, with the aim of bringing about a society which is free from violence against women<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Employment opportunities for women who have been victims of gender violence are the best guarantee for breaking the circle of violence suffered by women and their children, in order to help them get back on their feet and into society once again.<\/p>\n
