The UK government\u2019s Year of Engineering<\/a> initiative, launched at the start of 2018, is being supported by Ferrovial Services<\/a>\u2019 UK subsidiary Amey<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The year-long campaign hopes to widen the pool of talented youth within the engineering sector, and inspire the next generation of engineers<\/strong>. By bringing young people face to face with engineering role models and their achievements, the initiative will showcase the innovation, creativity, and variety of the profession, while also showing the opportunities, benefits and diversity of engineering careers.<\/p>\n

Amey\u2019s partnership with the UK government sees the company continue its promotion of STEM careers in the UK. The company worked with Girl Guides UK to create an engineering badge, while an apprentice scheme was also run to help budding engineers. Amey has also run a programme to increase the awareness of STEM careers.<\/p>\n

Amey will support the Year of Engineering<\/em> by promoting engineering as a career<\/strong> across its schools portfolio. School visits will be conducted on sites across the country, and events facilitated to celebrate the work of engineers.<\/p>\n

Andy Milner, CEO at Amey commented that:<\/p>\n

\u201cThe industry must do more to challenge stereotypes that exist in this field and to encourage the next generation to consider engineering as a career. We\u2019re a proud partner of the campaign and trust it will be a fruitful one for all involved, to make our industry better for the future<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
