The wastewater treatment plant<\/strong>\u00a0at\u00a0San Javier, in Murcia\u00a0(Spain), which was designed and built in 2007 by Cadagua<\/a>,\u00a0the company\u00a0now in charge of operation and maintenance of\u00a0the plant, was the focus of a visit by\u00a0Francisco J\u00f3dar,\u00a0councillor for Water, Agriculture, Livestock and Fishing of the\u00a0Region of Murcia. He was joined by Jos\u00e9 Miguel Luengo,\u00a0mayor of San Javier,\u00a0who praised the excellence of the plant and the high quality of the treated water<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

All the effluent produced by the treatment plant is reused<\/strong> for watering the\u00a0crops\u00a0grown in the area, with\u00a0up to\u00a03.5 hm3<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0high\u00a0quality water being used in local agriculture. But it is not only the water that is reused. The sludge from the treatment plant is used in agriculture,\u00a0after undergoing a\u00a0treatment\u00a0process which\u00a0includes\u00a0microfiltration<\/strong> and UV disinfection<\/strong>.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
