Ferrovial\u2019s\u00a0Polish subsidiary\u00a0Budimex\u00a0<\/a>has been\u00a0honoured\u00a0with the Top Builder 2018<\/a> award. One of the most renowned awards in the Polish construction industry, the jury gives the award to the highest quality products and civil engineering solutions.\u00a0Budimex\u00a0received the award for its work on the\u00a0S7 Expressway<\/a>\u00a0(Ostr\u00f3da\u00a0North \u2013\u00a0Ostr\u00f3da\u00a0South)\u00a0together with the construction of the\u00a0Ostr\u00f3da\u00a0Ring-Road.<\/p>\n

Proposals submitted to the competition are subject to a two-stage verification process by the competition jury. Entries are assessed in terms of environmental impact<\/strong>, technical parameters<\/strong>, their innovative character<\/strong>, application<\/strong>, and quality<\/strong>. Laboratories and certifying bodies are also consulted during the process as well as the competitiveness of the solution and the warranty term. The jury for the competition is comprised of members from the \u2018Builder\u2019 editorial team, the editorial board, and the programme committee.<\/p>\n

The 9.66 km<\/strong> section of the S7 in Poland was contracted with\u00a0the Olsztyn Division of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, and also includes\u00a0the construction of the\u00a0Ostr\u00f3da\u00a0Ring-Road of 9.13 km, as a part of national road no. 16.<\/p>\n

Bridges on the ring road are of particular interest due to their scale, diversity of engineering solutions, high complexity, and difficult soil conditions, as well as environmental impact limitations, quality requirements and the short completion time for such a complex project. Two of the bridges have a span of 200m or more<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Bridge work on the ring-road comprised of\u00a015 bridges<\/strong>, including 6 special construction bridges and one record\u00a0extradosed\u00a0bridge in Europe. The record\u00a0Budimex\u00a0bridge, a 4-span\u00a0extradosed\u00a0bridge\u00a0with\u00a0a total length of 677 m, with a record span of 2×206 m in this category of bridges in Europe, built as a part of national road no. 16, was constructed using overhang technology.<\/p>\n

While carrying out the completion of the contract,\u00a0Budimex\u00a0used its own specialized\u00a0technical departments to control and verify the design process, while optimizing the technical solutions applied.<\/p>\n
