{"id":7392,"date":"2018-05-23T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-05-23T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/news\/adif-and-the-railway-innovation-hub-spain-led-by-ferrovial-agroman-sign-a-protocol-to-drive-innovation-in-railway-technology\/"},"modified":"2022-12-21T09:15:37","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T08:15:37","slug":"adif-and-the-railway-innovation-hub-spain-led-by-ferrovial-agroman-sign-a-protocol-to-drive-innovation-in-railway-technology","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/adif-and-the-railway-innovation-hub-spain-led-by-ferrovial-agroman-sign-a-protocol-to-drive-innovation-in-railway-technology\/","title":{"rendered":"Adif and The Railway Innovation Hub Spain, led by Ferrovial Agroman, sign a protocol to drive innovation in railway technology"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p><strong>\u00cd\u00f1igo de la Serna<\/strong>,\u00a0Minister for Infrastructure and Transportation,\u00a0<strong>Juan Bravo<\/strong>, President\u00a0of\u00a0Adif\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Juan El\u00edzaga<\/strong>,\u00a0Innovation and Media Director for\u00a0<a title=\"About Construction - Ferrovial\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business-lines\/construction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Ferrovial Agroman<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0Chair\u00a0of\u00a0the<i>\u00a0<a title=\"Railway Innovation Hub Spain\" href=\"https:\/\/www.railwayinnovationhub.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Railway Innovation Hub Spain<\/a><\/i>,\u00a0signed a general protocol for\u00a0action\u00a0between\u00a0<a title=\"Adif\" href=\"http:\/\/www.adif.es\/en_US\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Adif\u00a0<\/a>and the\u00a0<i>Hub<\/i>\u00a0on 9 May\u00a02018,\u00a0with the\u00a0aim\u00a0of<strong>\u00a0driving\u00a0competition within the rail sector through the promotion of innovation<\/strong>.\u00a0Present at the signature of the agreement, which sets the stage for cooperation\u00a0in the field of\u00a0scientific research and technological\u00a0innovation,\u00a0were\u00a0<strong>Alejandro de la Joya<\/strong>,\u00a0General Manager, and\u00a0<strong>\u00c1ngel Luis S\u00e1nchez<\/strong>,\u00a0Building Director Area I,\u00a0from\u00a0Ferrovial Agroman,\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Ignacio Jardi<\/strong>,\u00a0Head of R&amp;D at the Directorate for Rail and Transport.<\/p>\n<p>The<i>\u00a0Railway Innovation Hub Spain\u00a0<\/i>is a private initiative comprised of <strong>49 companies from throughout the\u00a0rail\u00a0sector<\/strong>.\u00a0Chaired by Ferrovial Agroman, its\u00a0head office\u00a0is housed\u00a0at\u00a0Adif\u2019s Centre for Rail Technologies\u00a0in\u00a0M\u00e1laga.<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0<i>Hub<\/i>\u00a0has been created with the vision of becoming <strong>a benchmark\u00a0for rail innovation<\/strong> at an international level. Its mission is to drive sectoral technology and knowledge\u00a0through\u00a0implementation of collaborative <a title=\"Innovation in Construction - Ferrovial\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en-us\/innovation\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">R&amp;D projects<\/a>, the marketing of technology and know-how, the promotion of entrepreneurship and the delivery of specialist services.<\/p>\n<p>The<i>\u00a0Railway Innovation Hub\u00a0<\/i>will\u00a0initially work to\u00a0address the challenges facing\u00a0the rail sector in\u00a0a collaborative and innovative environment. It will do this\u00a0by the\u00a0means\u00a0of the signing of an\u00a0<i>Integral Challenge Resolution<\/i><i>\u00a0Protocol<\/i><i>\u00a0<\/i>\u00a0to cover all stages of innovation, from identification of the need or problem to be solved, to implementation of the solution in the market.\u00a0Additionally, <strong>a catalogue\u00a0of\u00a0the most innovative products and services\u00a0will be produced<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The<i>\u00a0Railway Innovation Hub Spain<\/i>\u00a0is framed within the context\u00a0of the Innovation Plan for Transport and infrastructures\u00a0through<i>\u00a0<\/i>which the\u00a0Ministry\u00a0for Infrastructure and Transportation\u00a0promotes Spain\u2019s international leadership on smart, efficient and sustainable infrastructures, with the end user at the centre.\u00a0<strong>Four\u00a0strategic areas<\/strong> have been identified\u00a0in this respect: user experience,\u00a0smart platforms,\u00a0smart routes,\u00a0and energy efficiency and sustainability. These\u00a0areas\u00a0are in turn divided into <strong>22 strategic aims<\/strong>, with <strong>70 accompanying initiatives<\/strong>.\u00a0It is expected that investment over three years will total <strong>77 million euros<\/strong>.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
