{"id":7445,"date":"2018-06-21T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-06-21T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/news\/ferrovial-services-awarded-for-its-commitment-to-the-environment\/"},"modified":"2022-12-21T09:14:44","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T08:14:44","slug":"ferrovial-services-awarded-for-its-commitment-to-the-environment","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/ferrovial-services-awarded-for-its-commitment-to-the-environment\/","title":{"rendered":"Ferrovial Services awarded for its commitment to the environment"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>The\u00a0Spanish\u00a0Technical Association for Environmental and\u00a0Waste Management, <a title=\"ATERGUS\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ategrus.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">ATEGRUS<\/a>, has presented Platinum Escoba\u00a0(Brush)\u00a0Awards to the\u00a0Seville and Murcia\u00a0local councils, Gold\u00a0Brush\u00a0Awards to the municipalities of Tomares, in Seville, and Salobre\u00f1a, in Granada, and\u00a0a\u00a0Silver\u00a0Brush\u00a0Award\u00a0to the\u00a0town of Teguise, in Lanzarote, in recognition of their <a title=\"Ferrovial's Commitment to the Environment\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/our-commitment\/environment\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">commitment to the environment<\/a>.\u00a0The cleaning and waste collection services\u00a0in\u00a0each of\u00a0the recipient\u00a0municipalities\u00a0are\u00a0handled by <a title=\"About Ferrovial Services\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business-lines\/ferrovial-services\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Ferrovial Services<\/a>.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The Seville City Council, via its public municipal cleaning company, LIPASAM, received the\u00a0award for the\u00a0introduction\u00a0of a new communications strategy for the\u00a0implementation\u00a0of awareness-raising actions relating to the environment\u00a0in which <strong>new participation channels and dynamics were\u00a0implemented<\/strong> in an effort to\u00a0boost participant acquisition and loyalty.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the case of the Murcia Town Council the award was conferred for <strong>the creation of the Municipal Graffiti Office<\/strong>,\u00a0established\u00a0with the aim of eradicating\u00a0wilfully destructive\u00a0graffiti that\u00a0both\u00a0damages and defaces public and private property. The centre focuses on cleaning, prevention, awareness-raising, the promotion of arts and the provision of\u00a0pertinent\u00a0assistance and counselling for the general public.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>For its part, the Salobre\u00f1a\u00a0Town\u00a0Council received the award for<strong> the introduction of quality indexes\u00a0for\u00a0cleaning and waste collection services<\/strong>,\u00a0thereby\u00a0necessitating\u00a0a\u00a0commitment to quality and citizen satisfaction on behalf of the service provider. Ferrovial Services has implemented an ongoing evaluation system for each of the services provided in an effort to detect any deviances\u00a0from expected results and act accordingly.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>In the same category, the municipality of Tomares received an award for the creation of <strong>a children\u2019s painting competition designed to raise\u00a0awareness\u00a0regarding local cleaning services<\/strong>\u00a0among the younger generations. The winning entries were screen-printed onto\u00a0equipment used by the\u00a0local cleaning service in an effort to help the younger generations understand the importance of keeping their municipality clean.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>And finally, the Teguise Town Council received its award for an innovative selective collection service that focuses on organic waste from the hotel and restaurant sector and provides both quality organic material for the biodigesters in the local\u00a0environment\u00a0centre and tax incentives for participating restaurants and hotels.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>These awards offer local councils and other public and private entities recognition for their efforts in favour of the environment and are <strong>presented every two years<\/strong> to institutions and organisations that distinguish themselves in terms of supporting, rewarding and disseminating\u00a0good practises in waste management and urban cleaning\u00a0and\u00a0developing\u00a0projects and technologies that allow for sustainable management of\u00a0our\u00a0environment.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>About the Escoba Awards<\/h2>\n<p>This competition has existed since 1987,\u00a0when the first edition was\u00a0announced by the European Union as part of European Year of the Environment and organised, in Spain, by ATEGRUS,\u202fa National Member of the International Solid Waste Association, ISWA. Subsequent editions of the competition have been held every two years.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The symbol used for the awards is the brush. Historically the first cleaning implement to be devised, it remains\u00a0an\u00a0indispensable\u00a0element\u00a0to this day despite the introduction of new technologies.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>The competition is open to town and city councils, autonomous communities,\u00a0associations of municipalities, service providers, engineering companies, environmental consultants, manufacturers of capital goods and urban cleaning and waste management facilities, universities that carry out relevant R+D+i\u00a0activities and organisations that focus on environmental training and awareness campaigns.<span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
