{"id":7471,"date":"2018-07-06T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2018-07-05T22:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/news\/full-speed-ahead-in-spain-ferrovial-agroman-commissions-the-puebla-de-san-julian-by-pass-in-lugo\/"},"modified":"2022-12-21T09:14:14","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T08:14:14","slug":"full-speed-ahead-in-spain-ferrovial-agroman-commissions-the-puebla-de-san-julian-by-pass-in-lugo","status":"publish","type":"new","link":"https:\/\/newsroom.ferrovial.com\/en\/news\/full-speed-ahead-in-spain-ferrovial-agroman-commissions-the-puebla-de-san-julian-by-pass-in-lugo\/","title":{"rendered":"Full speed ahead in Spain: Ferrovial Agroman commissions the Puebla de San Juli\u00e1n by-pass in Lugo"},"content":{"rendered":"    <section class=\"wysiwyg text-editor \" id=\"\">\n        <div class=\"container container--narrow container--p-10\">\n            <p>In\u00a0April\u00a0this year the joint venture\u00a0consisting of <a title=\"About Ferrovial Agroman\" href=\"https:\/\/www.ferrovial.com\/en\/business-lines\/construction\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Ferrovial Agroman<\/a> and\u00a0Obras Subterr\u00e1neas S.A.\u00a0(OSSA)\u00a0commissioned\u00a0the Puebla de San Juli\u00e1n by-pass, constructed by the <a title=\"ADIF\" href=\"http:\/\/www.adif.es\/en_US\/index.shtml\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"dofollow noopener\">Administrator of Railway Infrastructures<\/a> (ADIF). This is the first section of the Orense-Monforte-Lugo High-Speed train route to be commissioned, the construction having allowed for <strong>the elimination of 14 level crossings<\/strong> via modernisation and remodelling of the section, leading to improved circulation of the regular services and <strong>allowing trains to pass at 160 km\/h<\/strong>, a\u00a0maximum speed\u00a0that\u00a0will increase to <strong>200 km\/h<\/strong> once the line has been electrified.<\/p>\n<p>The 7.8\u00a0kilometre line is located 10 km\u00a0to the south of Lugo, and the development has\u00a0called for\u00a0the construction of platforms, tracks, safety installations\u00a0and\u00a0circulation communications systems\u00a0in addition to a new station at\u00a0Pobra de San Xian.<\/p>\n<p>The two most\u00a0significant\u00a0constructions\u00a0along the section\u00a0are the\u00a0<strong>525 m and 1300 m double-track tunnels<\/strong>, the latter featuring an innovative 340\u00a0m emergency gallery,\u00a0a slab track\u00a0and an experimental transition from slab to basalt track,\u00a0in addition to four viaducts of 330, 145, 630 and 590 m, the final two of these\u00a0featuring track dilation devices\u00a0and\u00a0having been\u00a0constructed using the incremental launch method. In Pobra de San Xian station the construction included 200 m of platform, 400 m\u00a0of siding and the corresponding switching mechanisms in addition to a passenger\u00a0transit building and\u00a0a\u00a0signalling station.<\/p>\n<p>The commissioning has been carried out\u00a0in accordance with the latest recommendations issued by the State Railway Safety Agency (AESF), which include\u00a0requisites\u00a0for\u00a0correspondence,\u00a0blockages, fibre-optic communications, system reliability, verification of train-route compatibility and simulation of commercial circulation.<\/p>\n<p>Given the above,\u00a0Manuel Ru\u00edz-Ocejo, director of the joint venture company commented that:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe work carried out prior to commissioning\u00a0turned into a complex operation that was jointly undertaken by ADIF and the joint venture company, the essential objective being the\u00a0re-establishment of commercial services by the expected date and under the expected conditions.\u201d<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>The jobs were carefully planned so that they could be carried out over a single weekend, during which time services\u00a0to and from\u00a0nearby stations\u00a0were\u00a0interrupted. These jobs entailed <strong>more than<\/strong> <strong>130\u00a0workers<\/strong>, 330 m of heavy\u00a0track\u00a0machinery\u00a0(tamping machines, drilling rigs,\u00a0ballast bed cleaner, conveyor with 5 hoppers, locomotives, ballast hoppers and a dynamic stabiliser) and a number of track excavators and dumpers,\u00a0all\u00a0of which were\u00a0overseen by Ferrovial Agroman.<\/p>\n<p>This\u00a0project is one of\u00a0a list of projects\u00a0carried out by\u00a0the Ferrovial Directorate for Rail and Transport, headed by <strong>Fernando L\u00f3pez Bueno<\/strong>.\u00a0The\u00a0team under his command in this\u00a0final phase consisted of <strong>Manuel Ruiz-Ocejo<\/strong>, Manager, <strong>Jes\u00fas Rafael Garc\u00eda Pol<\/strong>,\u00a0Site Manager,\u00a0 <strong>Ismael\u00a0 Garc\u00eda<\/strong>,\u00a0General Manager, <strong>Ang\u00e9lica \u00c1lvarez<\/strong>,\u00a0Safety Officer, <strong>Carlos Gallego<\/strong>, Technical Officer,\u00a0<strong>David Fern\u00e1ndez P\u00e9rez<\/strong>,\u00a0Head of Topography,\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>Victor Arias<\/strong>,\u00a0Chief Administrator,\u00a0together with the\u00a0Directorate for Rail and Transport track team consisting of\u00a0<strong>Carlos Bartolom\u00e9<\/strong>,\u00a0Machinery Manager,\u00a0<strong>Jaime Ruiz Escalante<\/strong>,\u00a0General Manager,\u00a0<strong>Ra\u00fal Serrano<\/strong>,\u00a0Foreman, and\u00a0<strong>Luis P\u00e9rez Conde<\/strong>,\u00a0Chief Technician.<\/p>\n        <\/div>\n
