This movement came about as an alarm bell for the problem of climate change. Since it began 12 years ago in Sydney, Earth Hour’s<\/strong> message has spread to every corner of the planet, reaching more than 187 countries<\/strong> with the same symbolic gesture to call attention to the pressing problem of climate change. This gesture is turning out the lights for one hour this Saturday between 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.<\/p>\n

How to participate?<\/strong><\/h2>\n

You can also join in this initiative; you just have to turn off your lights, computer, television, and all electronic devices for one hour this Saturday, March 30. In addition to the original challenge, this year the WWF has suggested three additional challenges: #DayWithoutPlastics<\/strong>, #DayWithoutMeat<\/strong>, and #DayWithoutEmissions<\/strong>. Ferrovial’s commitment to the environment<\/strong><\/h2>\n

In order to meet the climate challenges set at the climate summit held at the end of 2018, in which Ferrovial participated, Ana Pe\u00f1a, Head of Quality and Environment, states that<\/p>\n

“Companies have to prepare ourselves for Climate Change and bring it into consideration when making decisions, primarily in new business investments.”<\/em><\/p>\n

In addition, she adds that, in short, climate change must be integrated into companies’ governance, strategy, risk management, metrics, and objectives. By 2030, the goal approved and endorsed by the SBTi<\/a> is reducing emissions scope 1 & 2<\/a> in absolute terms by 32%<\/strong> and in terms of intensity by 42.9%<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

In addition, Ferrovial has implemented numerous actions in order to reduce general and specific emissions in each area of business, such as incorporating energy efficient criteria<\/strong> in purchases and service outsourcing, improving energy efficiency<\/strong> in its fleet of vehicles (both industrial and passenger cars), developing technologies and processes<\/strong> to favor eliminated emissions, and many more.<\/p>\n
